The construction of the New Lock Terneuzen involves a huge amount of building material. It is logical that wooden plate material and related construction items should be sourced from not too far away, in order to work sustainably. One of the suppliers to the Nieuwe Sluis Terneuzen is the company Jongeneel from Terneuzen, a specialist in wood, board and building materials.
Before the construction of the New Terneuzen Lock began, Jongeneel was very close indeed. "Too close," explains Thijmen Dingemanse, account manager at Jongeneel. "We had to make way with our site in Terneuzen for the construction of the lock and relocate our company. We are now at our permanent, brand-new location in Terneuzen Zuid."
Sustainable thinking and action
Royal Jongeneel has 42 branches throughout the Netherlands. Dingemanse is regional manager and site specialist. "Actually, the new building comes just at the right time. We want to be as sustainable as possible and with newly built premises, the situation is ideal for that. Even though we have moved within Terneuzen, we are still comfortably close, on the Koegerstraat. This results in flexible deliveries, storage on our own premises, being able to deliver on demand and reduced transport costs."
Jongeneel supplies FSC-certified wood. "In phase 1, the chain park was built, with Jongeneel supplying the sheet material for the interior of the Romney sheds. We also assisted in the realization of racking. The construction of the sheds and warehouses, in which our sheet material was used, has been completed," Dingemanse outlines. "We are now in the phase of preparation for concrete and art works, we are looking at which plates can best be used there. Materials are selected by us in such a way that they have a high repetition factor. A good example is the quality of the plywood supplied, which ensures that everything can be used multiple times."
Jongeneel uses its expertise to provide the best advice for each situation. "We also give advice on the storage and processing of the sheet material, very important for the best end result," Dingemanse says in conclusion.
