One project that confirms the company's expertise is the delivery of several special retaining walls for the new Bergsche Maas intake pump station in De Biesbosch. The construction of this station, the largest in the Netherlands for the intake of river water, is intended to be prepared for the increasing demand for drinking and industrial water while providing for increased pumping capacity. For this special project, Bosch Beton produced, among other things, structural walls with cut-out burrows in which swallows can nest. "An additional challenge here involved the fact that the design of the pumping station, located in a so-called Natura 2000 area, had to fit seamlessly into the existing river and dike landscape," Van de Loenhorst concludes.
