As many as 99 innovations are in the running for this year's Water Innovation Award. Entries could be submitted until September 30 in four categories. The jury is currently considering the submitted innovations. The winners will be announced at the Water Innovation Festival on December 2.
From a purifying greenhouse and a water scrubber against blue-green algae to sheet piling on aquathermy and electric dredging. All 99 of the innovations submitted can be viewed at Winnovatie.nl/waterinnovationprice. Entries were made in four categories: "Adapting to Weather Extremes," "Climate Neutrality," "Healthy Water and Soil," and "Water Board of the Future.
The entries will be judged by an expert jury led by Annemieke Nijhof, general director of research institute Deltares. The jury will choose three nominees per category from the entries. From November, the Public Prize is open and votes can be cast for the Water Innovation Prize nominees.
The winners will be announced on December 2 during a festive awards ceremony at the Water Innovation Festival. This year's Water Innovation Festival will take place at De Fabrique in Utrecht. The theme is 'The water board of the future'. The Unie van Waterschappen organizes this festival together with the Nederlandse Waterschapsbank, Het Waterschapshuis and STOWA.
