Permanent job, 32-36 hours, scale 11 (max. €6,193 gross p/m)
The layout of a city determines its livability. Would you like to use your civil engineering knowledge for that purpose with a medium-sized, active city that thinks sustainably?
You work on the physical layout of the city and that includes:
At the Public Domain Department of the municipality of Nieuwegein, we work on a beautiful and livable public space. The city consists of different cores, ranging from ancient villages to contemporary business parks. As an urban water management consultant you will ensure that the management, maintenance and renewal of our physical space is in good order. This is very varied: today it is about repairing an old sewer system, tomorrow about the consequences of making a residential area sustainable. You maintain contacts, assess proposals, make plans and coordinate. Plenty of room for your professional contribution!
If you enjoy working together toward a goal and want to contribute ideas on how to optimize a city, this is a great job for you.
The Utrecht region is doing well, which is currently leading to a boom in spatial projects and initiatives in the municipality of Nieuwegein. The projects range from single projects to complex developments involving multiple parties and stakeholders.
The adopted environmental vision focuses on four ambitions:
In your team, some 25 colleagues work on the various components of public space in Nieuwegein. In an open, approachable atmosphere, colleagues are always there for each other. We find it important to bring out the best in people. This allows everyone to put his or her talents to maximum use for the city, the organization, the department and the team.
You like to come up with good ideas and take responsibility for them. You like to think outside the box and work well together. You know that your work is part of a bigger picture and that sometimes you have to settle for a compromise. You also have:
A warm welcome in a team with enthusiastic colleagues. Our team has a great diversity of expertise with which you will collaborate on our tasks.
You will be working for a diverse city. We are proud of our history, while looking firmly to the future. The organization is open to your ideas and the lines are short, also towards the administrators. This is reflected in our modern, open City Hall. We are happy to make room for you there. Furthermore, we have for you:
We have a lively staff association, the Sand Crusaders, with a wide range of fun activities. And a young civil servants' network, the Nieuwe Geineratie, which organizes all kinds of interesting activities to help you develop further as a professional. They also organize monthly drinks where you can meet colleagues from different departments and gain new insights.
We cordially invite you to apply. We would like to receive your CV and a (short) motivation.
Apply no later than Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025.
