In addition to major grid operators, the family business is also a familiar name to many infrastructure contractors for supplying prefabricated HDPE piping systems in guaranteed high quality. An interview with managing director Gerjan Schreuders.
On January 1, 2001, Schreuders started De Jongh Pipesystems with owner Co de Jongh. "We had absolutely nothing, just a huge mountain of knowledge and experience from our previous employer," he says. "In a short time we grew very fast. This is mainly because we deliver quality, but of course also because of our one-stop-shop philosophy for HDPE piping systems. We think along, take care of the drawing, production, transport and assembly. In short, a complete package and that is fairly unique in our sector. For example, we are the preferred supplier of high-quality plastic pipes for large network operators in our country, for both electricity and gas, but we also supply HDPE systems for drinking water, waste water pipelines and industrial applications."
"HDPE as a material is very flexible and very durable," says Schreuders. "We can also supply it in longer lengths on so-called jumbo reels in order to process directional drilling, without coupling welds, in one go. We supply the HDPE material in all kinds of qualities, but always with a quality mark. Certainly when processing with directional drilling, some certainty is desirable. We may not be the cheapest in the market, but we guarantee optimal quality and delivery performance. As a result of a shortage of raw materials, especially granulate, we are currently seeing many companies returning orders. They cannot deliver. That will not happen to us. When we promise something, we deliver it. Thanks to our reliable manufacturer Egeplast from Germany, a large family business with which we have been doing business for twenty years. As an established relationship, we always have priority."
Some recent projects De Jongh Pipesystems has supplied HDPE systems to include the connection of several wind farms onshore and offshore. "Because of the high temperatures that can occur in the pipeline, we apply a special granulate and have it independently tested by KIWA. We have a great deal of experience with this from the past in order to once again be able to guarantee the highest possible quality."
De Jongh Pipesystems supplies HDPE piping systems from 3 millimeters to 1.60 meters in diameter. "In many cases, a project is largely prepared in our state-of-the-art workshop with our own welders. We then provide transport and logistics in-house as well. We even have our own trailers with unwind construction to handle, for example, jumbo reels (among other things, good for up to 1,300 meters of pipe around 160 millimeters) on site. The latter is perhaps even more important than the meter price",
concludes Schreuders.
