'We make the contractor pay off'

Dutch process innovators (dpi) is a young and innovative project and consulting firm with a fresh perspective on the construction and infrastructure sector. "Our goal is to make the contractor profitable. As a process partner, we focus on all the processes needed to win, realize and maintain projects." So says Philine Goldbohm, Manager of Innovation and Strategy at dpi.

Innovative approach

We stand for better quality projects, Philine enthuses. "We achieve that by managing construction projects better and smarter. It also means that we sometimes approach things differently than is usual in the construction and infrastructure sector. We are an organization that operates from a knowledge-intensive and results-oriented approach. What we notice in the market is that contractors are good at the design and realization of projects, but that they are looking for support for, among other things, making the quality demonstrable, the collaboration aspects, risk management and nuisance-free construction. That is what dpi is on the line for. We steer for a smooth and satisfied process. That requires an upfront investment, but it pays off in a significant reduction in failure costs."

At-risk

Dpi is a service provider that adds value to projects from its own vision and imaging. "Our ultimate dream is to enter a construction process as an equal partner," says Philine. "We sell services, so to speak, and based on the task at hand, we look at what expertise is needed to make the project a success. Preferably, as a process contractor, we step in on a risk basis. In this way, projects do not become a cash cow but a platform for executing our approach sharply for a fixed contract sum without surprises. We ensure the integrality of assignments on the basis of our specific dpi expertise and our broad scope, which includes integral project management, tender management, EMVI strategies, process management, project control, environmental management and asset management. We identify market developments and translate them to contractors."

Predictable service

All the services we offer are also traceable, Philine continues. "That means we work methodically towards our clients. They always know where they stand, because all steps and processes are discussed in detail. This way we form a good picture of the task in advance, determine a clear strategy, choose direction and actually deliver the result according to expectations." 

Dare to challenge

In addition, dpi regularly organizes "dare to challenge" events with clients and contractors to challenge issues toward the future. "At one such event, for example, we present the environmental management agency of the future," says Philine. "The way environmental management is currently approached always has a cut: a part at the front with the client and a part with the contractor. The latter then has to go through a whole dossier of history, whether or not in collaboration with the client to act with a face towards the environment at the same time. We believe we can do better, by providing a single office in which we maintain continuity in environmental management and combine the strengths of both client and contractor without disrupting the dynamics of the project. An issue to which we invite all clients."

So at dpi, we are constantly working to improve our existing services and develop new ones, Philine summarizes. "We act purposefully and, as a process partner, preferably step in with risk. And we do so with a huge dose of positivity and creativity with which we bring in knowledge and innovations with a smile."
