Within deadlines, including during corona

Geobest is providing earthwork recommendations for subarea 1, the A15, and foundation recommendations for the structures in subarea 4, or the existing A12. This section of freeway is being widened, a number of viaducts need to be modified and new slip roads need to be constructed. "Designing foundations, building pits and soil structures is our core business," explains Ruud Steenbrink, Geobest's Principal Consultant Geotechnical Engineering. "Our job is to make the designs executable, with only acceptable and controlled risks."

Junction The Liemers

In project ViA15, Geobest's challenge is in the De Liemers interchange, between Duiven and Zevenaar. This interchange will soon form the link between the existing A12 and the still-to-be-constructed section of the A15. The size of the interchange is large. "It will have the shape of a half star," explains Steenbrink. "In addition, it will have a sunken position and a flyover. This is complex math."

Remote meetings

Geobest has been involved in the design team of project ViA15 since the tender. Three engineers are currently working on the project and Steenbrink is satisfied with the progress. "We are meeting all deadlines and that while the conditions are far from normal. Three quarters of our people are working at home because of the corona virus. Now Geobest is a young, dynamic club, so the physical change was not an issue at all. But everyone did miss the conversations at the coffee machine. To that end, we now have a weekly "catch-up" session via Teams. A shot in the arm. You feel like colleagues again." 

Geobest is expected to complete its work in the spring. GelreGroen will then have all foundation consulting services in place to begin implementation of the project.
