Same regional companies with greater innovative strength

Same region companies with greater innovative strength

The real customer demand is important, that's what it's all about. These issues are often too big and too complex for a single business unit. To continue serving the integrated demand from clients, Strukton Civiel has chosen to join forces.

Infrastructure projects require subject matter expertise. That remains. But technological and social developments are changing the work. Data and data analysis provide new insights into maintenance and management. Innovations offer surprising solutions to existing challenges. Sustainability and circularity lead to alternative materials and products. So today's infrastructure is much more than a technical solution.

Everyone carefree on their way to the next destination under one name
Jan-Willem Roos, area manager at Ooms Construction has this to say: "As of January 1, Reef Infra, Ooms Construction, Rasenberg Infra and Colijn Beton- en Waterbouw will continue as Strukton Civiel region North & East, region West and region South. So much more of a unity and this way we can always meet the right client demand. A new name, the same faces, with which we will continue to contribute to a comfortable and safe infrastructure in the Netherlands. We realize complex projects, with the result that destinations are accessible again and junctions are no longer bottlenecks. Everyone on the way to their next destination carefree, that is our goal. And as a single Strukton Civiel, we are stronger for it. That's why we now have a single name."

Nationwide coverage with the same local teams
Jan-Willem continues: "In this way we are setting course for new roles and collaborations, for sustainability and responsible entrepreneurship as well as short lines of communication within the organization and for our clients. Despite the national coverage, our local teams remain unchanged, which we think is important because many clients make their first contact regionally. The expertise is in the people who work for us. Through this knowledge synergy and integral collaboration, it is possible for our clients to experience the same professional approach everywhere. We as an organization, but also I as a person, find it important that we stay close to the customer, are and remain regionally active, but at the same time also participate in large integral works."

Hoornsebrug Purmerend
"The power of this cooperation is proving itself, for example, in the complex project the Hoornsebrug in Purmerend," adds Ralf Keijser, project manager at Ooms Construction. The 1960s bascule bridge is outdated and in particular the VAL, movement and control parts of the bridge are in need of replacement. Ooms Construction was asked to replace the movable part of the bridge in its entirety. Concrete damage caused by time will be repaired and a new railing installed. "Due to the preservation of the existing bridge basement and abutments including foundations, in order to determine the suitability for the new structure, various investigations, tests and a recalculation were carried out. In doing so, we are bound by the quality of the existing structure and dimensions. It is a considerable challenge to build a bridge that complies with current laws and regulations while fitting into the "old jacket. Strukton Systems did the engineering and execution of the bridge's controls, Van Rens mobility is responsible for traffic management, and Antea, a sister company that works closely with Strukton, provided the design. The concrete work and asphalt work were carried out by Ooms Construction itself. We measured everything with a 3D scan, creating a blueprint within which we started designing. Another special feature is the reinforced construction of the steel bridge deck creating an upgrade in traffic class. This will allow a different layout for traffic on the bridge in the future," said Ralf. "The concrete and steel structure is being worked on on-site. Meanwhile, the new technical and drive systems are being worked on in the workshop because these were also in need of replacement. By prefabricating as much as possible and only allowing assembly to take place on site, the entire process, from demolition to construction, can be accomplished in just 12 weeks. This keeps environmental inconvenience to a minimum. Risk management, knowledge and experience in the field of civil engineering, mechanical engineering control and actually any technology involved are disciplines that are abundantly present and run like a thread through the work. We can manage the interfaces between them well with the right parties, and we are proud of that!"

Jan-Willem: "With one name, we are taking another big step towards a fully integrated organization. As one Strukton Civiel, we are working ever better for a livable Netherlands. And that sets our course."
