These days, exhibitors have to go all out at a show if they want to attract visitors' attention. With several Stage V models and six new machines, including two real juggernauts, Hyundai Construction Equipment Europe (HCEE) is competing for the attention of visitors at Bauma. These should experience the wow factor of the "Hyundai effect" on the 2,705 square meter outdoor stand.
That 'Hyundai effect', what should we think of? The answer comes without hesitation: "The 'Hyundai effect' comes not only from its state-of-the-art machinery and innovative technology, but also from its extensive dealer network, excellent service and excellent spare parts availability in Europe, resulting in a worry-free user experience. But above all, Hyundai wants to be a company that is a pleasure to do business with," emphasizes Jongho Chun, Managing Director of HCEE.
New look and feel
Bauma visitors are invited to discover Hyundai Construction Equipment's brand-new corporate identity in early April. Thus, the new look and feel of the booth should start to help HCEE strengthen the brand and increase brand awareness. In fact, the Hyundai group has ambitious growth plans: in the next few years, sales should more than double. The new European headquarters opened in 2017 in Tessenderlo, with its offices, showroom, event hall, teaching rooms and warehouse, will surely contribute significantly to this.
Six new machines
And if the stand's new look and feel do not immediately convince the visitor, the new machines will. HCEE is presenting fifteen products at Bauma, six of which are available in Europe for the first time. We start small, with the 1 ton HX10 A and the 8.5 ton HX85A CR. They are long-awaited additions to the compact excavator range. The lineup also includes the latest models of Stage V-compliant excavators and wheel loaders: the HX85A CR, HX220A L, HX300A L and HL960A. But most eye-catching at Bauma are the brand-new crawler excavators: the 13-ton crawler excavator HX130 LCR and the impressive 90-ton HX900 L.
The new European headquarters in Tessenderlo, with its offices, showroom, event hall, teaching rooms and warehouse, will be a major contributor to Hyundai's European growth ambition.
Large range and small swing radius
The HX130 LCR is the third compact swing radius excavator model in the HX series. It will be available in two versions: the standard LCR and the dozer blade-equipped LCRD. This 13-tonner is important for Hyundai's growth ambition, as it fills an important gap in the program. Indeed, the South Korean company is seeing significant growth in market demand in this weight class. The Perkins 854F diesel engine delivers 73.6 hp (55 kW) of power, resulting in a maximum digging depth of 5,570 mm, a maximum digging reach of 8,220 mm and a digging force of 10,369 kgf. The two-piece boom offers the much-requested combination of long reach and small swing radius for work in confined spaces. The 8-inch (20.3 cm) interactive, adjustable touchscreen dashboard monitor is expandable with the Hyundai AAVM (Advanced Around View Monitoring) system. That provides a virtual 360-degree view and uses the IMOD (Intelligent Moving Object Detection) function. This scans the working environment for objects and warns of obstacles within 5 meters of the machine.
90-ton crawler excavator
Much attention will undeniably be paid to the new HX900 L crawler excavator. This 90-tonner is based on highly innovative technology, which should deliver exceptional productivity. It is therefore specifically designed for use in the GWW sector and quarries in Europe, as a replacement for the R800LC-9. After the impressive 120-ton R1200-9, the HX900 L is the second largest Hyundai machine in this product series.
Advanced technology
Machines in themselves are important, but their advanced technology may be even more important. Besides the new "tiger eye design" for the compact excavators, it involves numerous technological updates for specific machines. Hyundai then talks about EPIC (Electric Pump Independent Control), EPFC (Electric Positive Flow Control), automatic locking, eco-guidance, MG (Machine Guidance)/MC (Machine Control), IWM (Intelligent Work Mode), radar and remote door locking. All should provide greater fuel efficiency, productivity, safety and even greater ease of use.
There are also several service enhancements, such as ECD (Engine Connected Diagnostics), MCD (Machine Connected Diagnostics), FOTA (Firmware over the Air), HCE-DT (HCE Diagnostics Tool) and monthly reporting via HiMate. The importance of these services is reflected in longer machine uptime thanks to more predictable maintenance intervals.
