Kemp Group further expands electric equipment offering

Those looking to become more sustainable have come to the right place at Kemp Group. For both ground, road and hydraulic engineering, the company supplies 100% electric machines. In addition to crawler excavators or mini excavators, this range includes a compact wheel loader, telehandler, crawler dumper, rollers, vibratory plates and vibratory rammer.

"For a few years now, we have noticed an increasing demand for emission-free equipment," says commercial director Arthur Plomp. "However, we did not want to start a conversion project ourselves, because Kemp Group sees itself more as a trading house than as a machine manufacturer. So the past period has been used to orient ourselves on which manufacturers of electrical machines match our vision and ambitions." Through the rental division Huur&Stuur, the first steps have been taken in the field of sustainable equipment and unburdening in terms of charging infrastructure. Thanks to 60 m² of rotating solar panels, the Solar King provides green power for recharging at any location.

Established name

With eight branches in the Netherlands, Huur&Stuur, the rental branch of Kemp Group, has become an established name within the GWW sector. Supported by specialist knowledge, national coverage, long opening hours and a level of service without distinction between the customer buying or renting, this established name lives up to its reputation. So too with the imminent innovations for electrification in the construction business. But perhaps more importantly, how do I recharge my machine? "We are now testing a battery pack with two DC chargers of 150 kW each on a tracked chassis. All of the zero-emission equipment offered by Kemp Group is also available for rent through our Rent&Send branches. Customers who want to become more sustainable thus do not immediately face sky-high investments."

It is a flexible short- or long-term solution to see how such a machine performs in practice or to use it to carry out a project requiring the use of emission-free equipment. Kemp Group offers battery-electric machines of different types: crawler cranes, mobile cranes, wheel loaders, telehandlers and various types of compaction machines.

Leading

To further expand the range of electric excavators, Kemp Group's Multi-Brand offering has been further expanded. Since this spring, they have been allowed to call themselves distributors for the Netherlands and Belgium of Sunward's electric mini and crawler excavators. "A leading manufacturer, leading the way in developing and producing zero-emission equipment." From a series of six electric models, the 2- and 24-ton machines are currently already available from stock, and the 1-, 6-, 2.5- and 3.5-ton mini-excavators will follow successively by the end of the year and during 2025.

The first Sunwards SWE240FED has been delivered to Gebr. van der Poel from Oud-Ade and recently Van Oostrum Westbroek has taken a similar battery-electric machine into service. The first 2-ton SWE20FEDs have recently been running at Loonbedrijf Overvest in Langbroek, Hogendoorn Grondverzet en Heiwerken from Ouderkerk aan den IJssel and Brouwer & Brouwer BV from Eastermar.

According to Arthur, the models from China are very well received and interest in renting such an emission-free machine is also high. "The enthusiasm is there, even if interest in electric equipment in general is waning a bit. The early adopters are in full swing with their machines, and it is not as if the energy transition in construction is now gaining momentum. That goes in waves, although we are convinced that this is the right path to take together."

Arthur Plomp: "Atlas is in the process of electrifying a mobile excavator, and for the rail world, we are working with AMT Group, which offers a retrofit kit for existing rail cranes and mobile cranes in addition to the E-Croll.
