The revamped INTERMAT 2024 attracted 127,500 visitors over 4 days, 21% of them international from 130 countries. A total of 1,065 exhibitors were present at the show, including 68% international, receiving high-quality visitors who were excited about the dynamic environmental and technological advances in the sector. With an increase in decision makers at the show, the event contributed significantly to exhibitors' business opportunities. A third of visitors had plans to invest in the decarbonization and digitization of construction sites. With an increase of 30% in the number of daily contacts per exhibitor compared to 2018, INTERMAT 2024 acted as a meeting place for professionals looking for innovations to address climate and social challenges in the construction industry. Both exhibitors and visitors were positive about the lively and friendly atmosphere during the fair.
The fair was opened by the presidents of the 5 main French construction trade associations (DLR, EVOLIS, FFB, FNTP and SEIMAT), who had joined the Manifesto "The 4 key elements to decarbonize the use of construction equipment".
Lively debates in the various forums focused on the right use of energy for each purpose, energy conservation, raising awareness of corporate social responsibility and improving the safety and attractiveness of the profession. Conferences, roundtables and events offered visitors, especially the 1,400 young people in attendance, the opportunity to understand the sector's key challenges and accelerate environmental and digital transitions.
A large number of leading international construction companies participated in this year's event, including companies from Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Finland, North African countries and Turkey. The ReBuild Ukraine conference covered all topics critical to strengthening the Ukrainian nation through reconstruction, offering opportunities for French and international companies, investors and partners.
As in 2024, the INTERMAT Innovation Awards demonstrated the construction industry's impressive drive for innovation in materials and equipment for energy transition, digitalization and safety, with 17 award winners.
The new New Technologies & Energy Cluster and Start-up Village presented technologies and equipment for new, alternative or renewable energy sources (such as biofuels, electricity, hydrogen, etc.), virtual and digital engineering, energy storage solutions and autonomous vehicles. Numerous machinery and equipment demonstration areas outside and on the exhibition booths, and 100% electrical machines within the halls themselves, provided visitors with the opportunity to experience the dynamic advancement of manufacturers' latest developments in safety, productivity and energy efficiency.
The World of Concrete Europe exhibition space and the associated lecture forum, focused on making the concrete industry CO2-free, was attended by almost half of INTERMAT visitors. The INTERMAT Innovation Awards for this segment recognized the industry's efforts to reduce the CO2 impact of materials, processes, technologies and equipment.
The 2024 edition was all about innovation, with a changed format and offerings around four key pillars: Innovations, Energy, New Connections and Commitments. The show not only offered favorable business opportunities, but also confirmed its ambition to bring together the many innovations in decarbonization and share them with the entire industry. Exhibitors had the opportunity to meet many visitors and complete procurement projects. This fair edition succeeded in jointly presenting innovative and efficient solutions to professionals, who gathered throughout the 4 days of the fair with great enthusiasm and in a pleasant atmosphere.
