Unique low installation
A good reason to visit Techobeton's booth is the TENSA® Grip TB R and TENSA® Grip TB R LS. An innovative joint transition construction developed together with Mageba that meets the current requirements for flexible joint transitions. It has some very interesting advantages. But Technobeton has more interesting news.
First, a brief introduction of Technobeton; the company specializes in concrete repair, development and installation of joint crossings, overlays and rail infrastructure projects. "We do everything around viaducts, tunnels, bridges and other concrete objects except the asphalt," said Paul Lange, Technobeton director. "They are often comprehensive projects that we are called in for. Think of the Utrechtsebaan in The Hague, renovation of the substructure of the old steel railroad bridge over the Maas near Buggenum and the engineering and installation of a Mageba finger joint in the Wilhelminabrug in Maastricht." The projects Technobeton is asked for require a particular approach that involves not only the execution of the work but also the verification and validation of requirements. "We are at home in this area and our work therefore demonstrably complies with all requirements and laws and regulations."
A recent development within Technobeton is the partnership with Mageba. Mageba is a global manufacturer of very high-quality expansion joints, structural bearings and seismic protection, among other products. Technobeton was keen to further develop its existing joint transitions, Mageba was looking for a new distribution partner. One plus one is two, the cooperation was a logical step for both parties. "We have an exclusive cooperation with Mageba for the Dutch market. The cooperation includes the sale and installation of all Mageba systems and products, especially the TENSA® Grip TB R and TENSA® Grip TB R LS joint transitions and overlays that are already widely incorporated and applied."
A great result is the further development of the ThormaJoint-RTD joint crossing construction to meet current requirements for flexible joint crossings. This construction has been assigned a service life of 10 years for the heaviest road category. This is made possible in part by the use of cast asphalt edge beams, dilatation-bridging steel plates 6 mm thick and a rubber release strip that allows the joint compound to distribute stresses better. "It has been extensively tested at international test institutes such as BAM Berlin and EMPA Switzerland. The ThormaJoint is therefore very interesting for a number of reasons for provinces, local authorities and national roads alike."
In addition to concrete renovation, Technobeton is active in aquademolition, or demolition and remediation by water pressure. "The advantage of this is that the concrete reinforcement (the structure) is spared, while surface rust is removed. With traditional demolition you always damage the reinforcement, but not with water pressure. It also prevents micro-cracks and you create a perfect base for concrete repairs. We applied it, for example, at the Utrechtsebaan in The Hague. An additional advantage is that it gives less noise and vibration nuisance for residents."
