Since 1987, Geosonda has been engaged in performing soil mechanical investigations. The range of services has been continuously expanded over the years. As part of the ABO Group, Geosonda is able to take on the entire spectrum of soil investigation and consultancy in-house. An interview with director Aad van der Burg about the many disciplines and its own soil laboratory in Breda.
Geosonda has a huge fleet of equipment for soil exploration. "Our equipment fleet ranges from large tracked sounding vehicles to smaller tracked vehicles and even demountable equipment for hard-to-reach locations," says Van der Burg. "In addition, we can draw on the expertise of our sister company Sialtech, which specializes in mechanical soil drilling with pulse drilling units and sonic drilling rigs, and Geo-Supporting, recently incorporated by ABO Group, with the best specialists for indoor probing."
Since January 1 this year, Geosonda also has its own soil laboratory. Van der Burg: "The laboratory was set up together with our sister company Translab from Belgium. With this addition, we are able to perform quality geotechnical tests and analyses in-house. Think of compression tests, tri-axial tests, investigation of grain distributions, permeability and volume weights and other small soil parameters."
Soil mechanical research in the infrastructure sector consists of several components: probing, drilling and lab research. "The cooperation with our sister companies and our own soil laboratory means that we are able to serve clients much faster and in-house. So we have everything in-house to do extensive soil-mechanical research and can independently tender for specifications," Van der Burg summarizes. "And thanks to ABO Milieuconsult, we can also pick up all environmental issues. In short, a single point of contact for a wide range of services."
