As a developer and manufacturer of a comprehensive total package of drilling materials, hydraulic drilling motors and accessories, STDS-Jantz not only serves customers in the foundation world. The originally German company also offers a comprehensive assortment of tools for other applications. One of these is horizontal directional drilling (HDD), one of Van Leeuwen Sleufloze Technieken's (VLST) specialties. During a prestigious project in Taiwan, the Woerden-based company is using a hollow auger drill supplied by STDS-Jantz with a diameter of no less than 850 millimeters.
During the upcoming Matexpo, the biennial international trade fair for construction equipment that takes place from September 8 to 12 in Kortrijk Xpo, STDS-Jantz will once again show its qualities and versatility to visitors. One of the products that will be put in the spotlight concerns the hollow auger drill which, thanks in part to a diameter of 850 millimeters, makes horizontal directional drilling almost child's play. "These recently produced auger drills are equipped with octagonal couplings and a corresponding drill head," said Marnik Janssens, representative on behalf of STDS-Jantz for the Benelux region, among others. "The drill head is equipped with interchangeable flat teeth and a number of flush holes in case water or another product needs to be added during drilling operations."
The new powerhouse from STDS-Jantz is being successfully deployed by VLST during a job in Taiwan. "The company is currently performing drilling work on the coast here in three phases," Janssens said. "In addition to so-called pipe pushing, they are using HDD technology in the process. With this substantially sized auger drill, we provide the perfect tool for this."
