Efficient work with new GIANT GT5048 telescopic handler

Efficient work with new GIANT GT5048 telehandler

For work at height, TOBROCO-GIANT introduces the compact and versatile GT5048. TOBROCO-GIANT has taken the design of this all-rounder to the next level through the extensive knowledge gained from its predecessor, the 4548 TENDO HD. By combining this knowledge with the latest technologies, a modern telehandler in the 2×2 meter class has been developed with a lifting height of 4.8 meters!

Latest technologies

A new and 10% more powerful diesel engine from Kubota with 36 kW / 50 hp has been chosen to power the GT5048. To minimize emissions and comply with Stage V emission standards, it is equipped with catalytic converter (DOC) and diesel particulate filter (DPF). The new engine has been given a larger displacement and higher torque at lower rpm. This provides more pulling power at the bottom, gives a lower noise level and also the travel speed has been increased to 28 km/h as a result. The telescopic handler has hydrostatic four-wheel drive with automotive steering through 8-ton axles and a heavy-duty planetary final drive.

To create more space for new components and to ensure easy access to service points, a new engine body was developed that is 2 cm wider and 4 cm longer. At the same time, the air intake has been enlarged for optimal engine cooling. In addition, 2 fuel filters are now used and a heavier battery is fitted as standard. The exhaust has been repositioned and is now positioned at the top, next to the lift arm, for proper drainage and prevention of dust accumulation under the machine. In addition, the GT5048 can be equipped with a reversible cooling fin for removing dirt and dust particles in the radiator.

Proprietary software

Meanwhile, the electrical system comes from Bosch Rexroth and the machine is fitted with a new wiring harness. The software was developed entirely in-house and ensures that all components work together optimally and perform well. These innovations allow dealers to use a diagnostic tool to gather information for troubleshooting and repair.

Compact and stable

With a width of 1.6 meters and height of 1.97 meters (with cab), the GT5048 falls in the 2×2 meter class for compact telehandlers. Thanks to all-wheel steering, the machine has a reduced turning radius (inside radius of 1,200 mm). This makes it easy to work with the machine in confined spaces or indoors. Optionally, the telescopic handler can be equipped with two-wheel steering and dog walk so that it can easily drive away sideways along a wall.

New workplace

With an eye on ease of operation and user-friendliness, a completely new workstation has been developed. For example, the steering column has been adopted from the latest G models. This means that it is adjustable in height and depth and all information is available on the display. This includes oil temperature and load moment protection. The use of this steering column and a new seat has also created more space for the user.

The proportional joystick allows easy one-handed operation of all important functions while the arm can rest on an ergonomically shaped armrest. Via new control panels, functions such as lights and windshield wiper, as well as options such as two-wheel steering and dog walk, are clearly displayed and easy to operate. Next to the steering column, rotary knobs are installed for heating and optional air conditioning.

Safety first

The GT5048 has been extensively tested for safety and stability by an independent body and this shows that the telehandler meets the international EN ISO 12100 and EN 1459 standards. Here, EN ISO 12100 is the international standard for machine safety (general) and EN 1459 is a European standard for the safety and stability of rough terrain telehandlers.

In addition, the safety roof and cab are ISO certified for ROPS/FOPS protection. The hood has been redesigned for increased visibility to the right, and the use of a curved windshield and narrow pillars provides good all-round and work visibility. For added protection, the front window can even be equipped with a protective grille.

TOBROCO-GIANT has now started production of the GT5048 and the first machines were delivered to dealers in Europe in March.
