HKV's vision of the market is clear: by delivering quality in all areas, you build long-term relationships with satisfied customers. Also, at HKV, sustainability is inherent in delivering quality.
"Our way of working is not based on short-term profit, but on building long-term relationships," Marjolein explains. "That applies to our relationships with customers, but also with those of our suppliers." HKV removes a piece of worry by very critical selection of supplier and assortment. This allows them to guarantee maximum quality while maintaining a market-based price. This goes beyond the product itself; service also meets the highest quality standards
Looking at the corporate clothing at HKV, it is striking that only A-brands are supplied. Under its own label 'Quest', HKV markets a clothing line in RWS quality. This clothing meets all the requirements set by RWS and is manufactured entirely in-house. The Quest line offers the highest attainable level of comfort, wind and water resistance, as well as breathability. Within the Quest line are all forms of outerwear, such as jackets, pants and overalls. Good for year-round safety, dryness and warmth.
'Safety is also a focal point in Ochten'
Safety is also a focal point in Ochten: those needing PPE can choose from helmets, shoes, gloves, boots and glasses (including prescription!). "We are a full infra partner when it comes to safety," says Maarten. When we talk about safety, we also talk about road marking. A branch of sport in which HKV is very adept. Marjolein explains, "Traditionally, HKV has specialized in road signs. By now we have become a well-known supplier of road signs. Due to requests in the past, we switched from lettering signs to lettering other products, such as cars and trucks. Meanwhile, our advertising and sign department has grown into a worthy player in the market with the HKV characteristic
high level of quality.
HKV is supplier of the brand new concept where traffic signs are sustainably manufactured from a rice waste product, the OFN rice husk sign. Marjolein: "These traffic signs consist of 60% rice husk, 22% rock salt and 18% mineral oil. The rice husk is actually a waste product of the rice industry. The rock salt gives strength to the board and keeps it from burning, and the mineral oil makes everything resistant to weather. It's only 3 ingredients in this 'rice recipe', but ingeniously brought together." Maarten adds: "This composition is also used to make facade boards, which does say something about the resistance. This board fits perfectly within our sustainability philosophy, which is part of the overall corporate culture at HKV."
"Sustainability is a concept with us. As employees, we are aware of our sustainable role. Our own building is LED-lit, we have solar panels and there is underfloor heating everywhere, to name but one example. Therefore, in the products we include in our assortment, we always look for the combination of quality-sustainability. Marjolein concludes, "With our own sustainability committee, we always look to see if something can be improved; that applies to our entire supply program. It has to be circular, biodegradable and made from a sustainable raw material. We look at the possibilities for disposal after the life cycle ... we absolutely go for the lower CO2 footprint. Our customer benefits from that as well. As I said, we want to be a 9 for our customer!"
