As a recognized workplace safety company, UR Consultant supports companies that carry out all kinds of work on or in the immediate vicinity of the railroad. This varies from green maintenance along the track or paving and asphalting work taking place around railroad crossings to large national projects, such as the Blankenburg connection and the RijnlandRoute.
Specific safety requirements apply to work on or along railroad tracks. "Companies that are not certified will have to engage a workplace safety company to guarantee safety for everyone working above, below, in/or along the track," begins Joost van Rijn of UR Consultant. "We advise companies on the measures to be taken and, if requested, guide them in this from A to Z. That is, from the H&S design plan and the accompanying risk inventory to the implementation of on-site safety, or setting the required safety functions. We unburden contractors in complete railroad safety."
Construction consortium BAAK Blankenburg connection engaged UR Consultant to ensure safety at various locations within the project. Van Rijn: "The intersection with the Hoekse Lijn (converted from ProRail to RET track) was carried out at a depth, with a tunnel under the track. Its deck was pre-built alongside the track and slid in during an out-of-service period. We provided workplace security for these activities. This also applies to the interface that the Blankenburg connection has with the Port railroad as long as it has not yet been shifted to the Thamesweg route. On the one hand, we have guaranteed safety for being able to measure the existing route, and on the other hand, we think along in working methods to be able to safely remove the high vegetation along the harbor railroad, for example, so that the trees do not fall onto the track."
For the RijnlandRoute, the new road link between Katwijk, via the A44 and the A4 near Leiden, UR Consultant has been involved for more than a year. "The project includes the construction of two drilled tunnels under the railroad," Van Rijn explains. "The first tunnel tube has already been drilled, drilling of the second tube has started and will pass the railroad by the end of this summer. For IV infra, which is monitoring the rails during drilling on behalf of contractor combination Comol5, we are arranging workplace safety. We provide the RI&E with regard to the danger of collision and electrocution, so that the measuring technician can carry out his work safely in the right place. We also make sure that IV Infra can take part in the cleaning of the measuring indicators - stickers on the rails that become contaminated by brake dust from passing trains, among other things - during the process contractor's scheduled out-of-service hours."
With years of experience in the infrastructure sector, UR Consultant's staff know cause and effect like no other, enabling companies to work safely and securely on or around railroad tracks.
