TS Group Holland deploys electric aerial platforms in N264 conversion work

The work on the N264 has to be completely energy-neutral. Reason why TS Group Holland has deployed electric aerial platforms for the construction of the intelligent traffic control installations (iVRIs). 

"BAM approached us to ask if we could assist in building traffic control installations," says Dennis van Ingen, director of TS Group Holland. The company focuses, among other things, on solving (complex) cable failures, cable protection, maintenance of public lighting systems and traffic systems, as well as, for example, the rental of temporary CO2-neutral camera systems and lighting. "For this project we were specifically asked for support with an aerial platform and service technicians. Among other things, we connected the public lighting masts to the provincial network. This required cables to be carefully inserted and mounted. In addition, we also provided support in building the portals for the intelligent traffic control installation (iVRI), which also required complex cable work."

Electric boom lift

An important requirement from BAM was to work energy-neutral. Dennis: "So on this project we deployed aerial platforms that are electric and we drove from site to site using HVO100 fuel. That immediately makes the N264 project an important project for us because it is our first experience with completely energy-neutral work."

Flexibility

"Our job was to be flexible and provide knowledgeable support for different aspects of the project," Dennis explains. "We can also offer that flexibility because we have our own aerial platform service for the realization and maintenance of infrastructure works such as the N264. In addition, we always deploy our aerial platforms with a service technician. So this person can also perform other work than just driving the aerial platform. We also have our own metal factory, so we can switch quickly if we arrive at a location where, for example, cable trays, omega profiles, stainless steel tubes or other specific materials are also needed."

Fast switching

The cooperation with BAM was very positive. "We have built up a good working relationship with BAM from previous projects. That allows us to move quickly for both planned and emergency jobs." TS Group Holland performed the aforementioned work last year. The company will be back in action in 2024 and 2025, once work takes place on the stretch from Karrevracht to Industrielaan.
