During works in public spaces, tensions arise in terms of safety, traffic flow and livability. BUKO Infrasupport uses an integral approach in which science, the digital world and physical traffic measures reinforce each other. "In this way, we offer solutions in temporary traffic situations with the aim: to create a positive(er) experience of disruption," says Harold Mulder, mobility specialist at BUKO Infrasupport.
As specialists in temporary traffic measures, they know better than anyone at BUKO what the best, safest and least intrusive choices are. "We always start a project with an advance (behavioral) analysis: who will be affected by the work and how can we best inform them on a personal level. After all, research has shown that awareness beforehand and understanding during the temporary traffic situation contribute positively to safety, flow and experience of inconvenience."
Recently, BUKO Infrasupport started working with the BUKO City concept. One of the elements from BUKO City is the application LISA. "Think of this as a blanket that we put over a certain area with which we collect all kinds of data about traffic flows, delay times and so on. That transparent data is collected, monitored and analyzed before, during and after a project or event. Based on that data and the predictive ability therein, we can inform the right people in real time at the right time and in the right way about, for example, an alternative route," Harold says. "You just really have an advantage when you can act and communicate proactively. With BUKO City, you maintain control and we are basically a mobility broker managing the city for our customers."
"BUKO Infrasupport is a very innovative party within this segment and our strength and decisiveness are very great," says Harold. "But above all we do it together. Together with our customers, but also together with our people and within our different divisions and branches that reinforce each other. We don't say with pride for nothing: We are BUKO."
Finally, Harold mentions a few more innovative ideas that are being tackled jointly -within the business units of BUKO- integrally. "Our Dynamic Traffic Management department is developing intelligent systems that operate in a traffic-dependent manner. Not just temporary traffic lights, but systems that can take on the complexity of a permanent traffic control installation." BUKO is the only party in the Netherlands applying these certified iVRI installations. Because these iVRI installations can be linked to Flitsmeister, the status of the lights in a temporary situation can also be found in the Flitsmeister app. Harold goes on to mention the IMT: "We use our Intervention Motor Team to manage the environment: they can respond quickly and actively, look on the spot and offer solutions." These are all examples of appropriate measures within BUKO Infrasupport's dynamic traffic management that close a project 100% and make the flow and traffic flow as good and safe as possible.
