At the start of DELTABLOC Netherlands in 2008, the steel Dutch guide rail was the standard and if this could not be applied, the concrete or steel stepbarrier was installed. With the application of the narrow DB 65S concrete barrier at the road works on the A1 Almelo - German border (2009), the first serious step was taken towards new solutions in passive traffic safety in the Netherlands. More space and higher safety for traffic and road workers.
Meanwhile, DELTABLOC Netherlands has made great progress and its concrete products, with a life span of more than 50 years, are seen throughout the Netherlands. Moreover, the DB 65S series was succeeded by the even narrower systems SB 50 and SB 70. These barriers provide perfect guidance at night due to the many reflectors. After all, visibility is safety!
The latest development, a CE-certified barrier with noise barrier, which has already been tested in practice for collisions by a truck on the A9, stands out the most. DELTABLOC is expecting a lot from this NBF series which, due to lack of space on site, is an excellent solution for shielding road noise without the need for expensive foundation structures. This 3-in-1 solution (vehicle barrier, noise barrier and design) is also available with integrated light pole.
Kees Hanegraaf, Director DELTABLOC Nederland: "I look back with a satisfied feeling to the most eye-catching project of this year: A9 Badhoevedorp - Holendracht where DELTABLOC has now had the opportunity to deliver six (!) CE-certified systems. We are proud that we have now been allowed to make a significant contribution to many large and small road construction projects in order to allow traffic to flow safely and safely shield road workers."
New ideas, new techniques. A concrete vehicle barrier is not beatific, but it can provide more safety than was thought in 2008. There's a reason why many roadwork sites today are shielded with concrete barriers instead of steel.
"From design to implementation, we think along in the process. What preconditions are set in addition to the vehicle barrier requirements? In 'Design and Construct' projects, the visual quality requirement is often a weighty factor. However, this must not be at the expense of the safety and quality of the vehicle restraint system to be applied. The knowledge within our organization of more than 100 tested vehicle restraint systems in various performance classes is an important factor in such complex projects," concludes Kees Hanegraaf.
