Settling thresholds on construction sites can finally be done properly, quickly, safely and affordably

Roadway slabs are indispensable on construction sites. What can be missed about roadway slabs like a toothache, however, is the noise pollution they often cause to nearby residents and the tripping hazard they pose. To avoid the latter, a concrete or asphalt ramp is usually poured against the roadway slab. Time-consuming, costly and not so durable.

Couldn't that be done differently? If it is up to Rob Costongs, owner of BouwterreinPro, there is certainly a better way. His company supplies in the Benelux the now very proven rubber ramps of the Swiss brand Fleyg. We talk to Costongs about this ingenious solution that saves time, money and danger.

Flying start for safest driveway

"Construction SitePro is a new name within the GWW when it comes to providing solutions for construction site layout," Costongs opens the conversation. "We aim to make the construction, road building, GWW, infra-technology and paving sectors safer, more efficient and cost-effective. The first product we are bringing to market provides a 'flying start,' which are the Fleyg ramps."

We learn that the Fleyg ramps are made from 70% recycled rubber. "This promotes durability, as does the fact that the ramps can be easily reused. The rubber also dampens noise when driving up the driveway slab. Ramps are much needed on construction sites to allow machines, vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians to easily traverse obstacles and pits. Unfortunately, driving up or onto the roadway slab is often no easy task. Tripping hazards, shifting of the slab and noise pollution are a few disadvantages we can easily list. With a Fleyg driveway, these problems are solved.
ended."

Additional safe features

Costongs lists a few more important advantages: "The Fleyg driveways are water repellent and possess anti-slip properties. In addition, the ramps have reflective markings that make them highly visible in the dark and in bad weather. Pedestrians, cyclists, wheelchair users and drivers of mobility scooters can therefore access the driveway via our ramps in complete safety."

Easily reusable and can be shortened as required

The Fleyg ramps are easily customized by cutting them to the desired size and can be quickly relocated if needed. "Because they can be reused, the Fleyg ramps pay for themselves after being used a few times. Durable, cost-saving and guaranteed safe. What more could you want?" outlines Costongs. "When you compare these ramps to concrete or asphalt ramps, the sum of benefits is quickly made."

The Fleyg ramp is a patented product from Fleyg AG of Switzerland and comes in three size/shape variants. "The Fleyg 100 measures 1000 mm x 400 mm x 42 mm, the Fleyg 75 measures 750 mm x 400 mm x 42 mm and the Fleyg corner measures 250 mm x 250 mm x 42 mm," Costongs said in conclusion.
