In the Municipality of Spijkenisse, a safe oxide-red bicycle lane was installed using a durable PMMA coating. When constructing a new bicycle lane, the safety of cyclists was the main focus. A contrasting color was chosen to make a clear distinction between the road and the bicycle lane. A sustainable project where safety and aesthetics come together.
Sprayable Triflex coating is widely used for such applications. This form of surface coating is all about durability and skid resistance. The product is suitable as a coating on bicycle paths and intersection surfaces, in situations where the coating is heavily loaded and where high wear resistance is required. The curing time is minimal, allowing the road to be released to traffic quickly. Triflex is a specialist in PMMA/cold plastics and delivers optimum in consistent quality that manifests itself in processing and results.
Before the application could start, a number of requirements had to be taken into account. Essential was a tight finish, proper layer thickness and sufficient skid resistance. Before the processors could get to work, a number of test applications had to be carried out on site. After this they started creating the bicycle lanes with Triflex.
With her skill and diligence, the applicator did a very nice and quality job. The material and application method provide a tight and neat finish, and the blended grain ensures proper skid resistance.
