Fudura and ProRail are joining forces to make the Dutch railroad network more future-proof. Fudura will accurately read all traction meters so that ProRail has accurate and detailed insight into the complete energy consumption. This specific insight gives ProRail grip to keep the electricity network in balance and offers better insight into the energy consumption per carrier of the railroad network.
Train traffic will continue to increase within the Netherlands in the coming years, putting a heavier load on the electricity grid. At the same time, this requires a more optimal grid balance to guarantee the required power supply to the trains. "Thanks to Fudura's technology, energy consumption will soon be transparent per connection, per cable and even per traction station. This will enable ProRail to respond better to all facets when it comes to measurement data, insight into consumption and the settlement of costs," says Daan Verbaan, System Specialist at ProRail.
"Grip on energy consumption starts with clear insight. This is the basis for improving and making energy performance more sustainable, states Fudura director René Pruijssers. "We believe in a world that uses energy efficiently and fairly. Our reliable energy infrastructure and data-driven energy services provide this sharp view of energy issues. In this way, we provide ProRail with the right tools to achieve its energy target."
ProRail transfers to Fudura the management and legal metering responsibility of the 204 traction connections. In addition, Fudura will provide the reading and management of 20 wholesale intermediate meters, with this number increasing to a total of 134 over the next five years. The cooperation runs for a total of eight years. On April 1, 2020, the implementation will be completed and all management will be in the hands of Fudura.
Fudura, as a market leader, provides energy metering services and infrastructure solutions such as transformers, switches and charging stations to over 25,000 customers. Fudura believes in a world where we use energy efficiently and fairly.
ProRail is responsible for the rail network of the Netherlands. Together with transporters, they work 24/7 to ensure that passengers and goods reach their destinations safely and on time. ProRail wants more trains to run safely and with less disruption, now and in the future. They always do this with consideration for the environment and society.
