Cutting asphalt is a craft

Cutting asphalt, it all seems so obvious, but it absolutely isn't. The contractors at BAM Infra Nederland know that like no other. That is also the reason ABX sawmij is called in for all the sawing work on the N395, planned but sometimes unexpected. "For ABX, professional work is standard. Someone else has to put a lot of effort into it..."

ABX sawmij has a nationwide framework contract with BAM Infra Nederland. "A kind of guarantee that the basics are already well taken care of. The rates, conditions, organizational preconditions and so on, it's all laid down," says Paul Heurkens, chief contractor on the reconstruction of the N395. "Companies like ABX, to be honest, are few and far between. They are fast, flexible, keep appointments and have enormous capacity. But above all: they deliver standard workmanship. After all, sawing is more than just lowering the blade into the asphalt. What ABX does with that saw truck at long lengths, no one can match that."

Ad hoc moments

"We carry out projects for BAM Infra Nederland throughout the Netherlands," says director Dirk van Gelder. "It's an important client that we can emulate in terms of capacity and quality. Every project, no matter how well planned, has its ad hoc moments. Those are the moments when our added value clearly emerges. Together we look at the possibilities to solve and fit in as well and as quickly as possible. We attach great value to open communication with all parties, putting all our cards on the table to find room in the existing planning. This can sometimes be acute, so dropping everything and driving directly to the project. Or the same evening or night, for example, to ensure that work already planned for the next day can continue as usual. That happened on the N395 as well, although most of it was just cut on schedule." Paul Heurkens can confirm this and adds: "If you call ABX, they are there. Then you are also assured of a professional who knows what to do with the right tools. And that too is an art. That the people who come to saw really know what they are doing."

ABX sawmij operated on the job an average of once a week from June last year through February this year. A total of some 5,800 meters of asphalt was cut at an average depth of 18 centimeters and 150 meters of concrete at an average depth of 14 centimeters. And all to the complete satisfaction of BAM Infra Nederland. "Also the whole settlement after the cutting is part of the professionalism that ABX conveys. An abundantly clear overview of the work always follows shortly after execution." Not very strange, then, that executives and project managers are increasingly finding their way to ABX sawmill.
