All-round green specialist

Every year many tens of thousands of plants and trees pass through the hands of the people of Gako groenvoorziening. The green specialist is also responsible for the green maintenance along 240 kilometers of provincial roads in the province of South Holland and is a permanent partner for local governments and various contractors for the construction, management and maintenance of (public) green spaces. Among other things, Gako groenvoorziening is currently busy with the greening of the reconstructed N206 ir. G. Tjalmaweg.

A recently completed project of Gako landscaping is the English landscape garden of Landgoed in den Houte in Noordwijkerhout.

The reconstruction of the N206 ir. G. Tjalmaweg is a special project for Gako landscaping. "We were engaged by contractor Boskalis at an early stage to help think about the details of the green plan. In doing so, we took into account as many types of planting attractive to birds and insects as possible," says Cor de Gans of Gako landscaping. "The existing road was already in a green environment and we wanted to maintain that appearance even after the reconstruction. And that is succeeding quite well, we can already conclude. We are busy planting no less than 40,000 stick plants, 530 trees and still the necessary forest planting."

Oasis of greenery

The 40,000 stick plants in the form of hederas will be planted by Gako greenery in front of the slat wall in the sunken location of the N206 ir. G. Tjalmaweg and at the noise barriers. "The traffic will soon drive through an oasis of green," De Gans is already visualizing the end result. All in all, quite a job for the green specialist. "We've really been able to assert our expertise here, both in the preliminary process and now during implementation. And that requires quite a bit of flexibility now and then. We are very proud to be able to contribute to such a beautiful and extensive project, but we also only have 'two hands'. That means smart planning and dealing with people and equipment so as not to shortchange other ongoing projects." That, too, Gako landscaping is well entrusted with.

Park for Ukrainian refugees

Apart from the N206 ir. G. Tjalmaweg, there is another major project on the green specialist's agenda. "In Vlaardingen, combination Heijmans - Dura Vermeer will soon start the construction of a completely new residential area for the reception of Ukrainians. We are providing the layout of the entire green plan on the currently undeveloped land," says De Gans proudly. "The neighborhood will soon be able to house about a thousand refugees in a park-like setting. After we have carried out the necessary ground improvement, we will plant 40,000 perennials and another 570 trees. It will really be a picture."

English garden

A recently completed project of Gako landscaping is the English landscape garden of Landgoed in den Houte in Noordwijkerhout.

"In collaboration with JDB Group from Hoofddorp, we transformed the feral garden into a true gem.Plant species that were in the garden in the last century were replanted and old elements brought back," says De Gans. "A unique project for us with lots of appealing plantings. After the major renovation, the glory of yesteryear is back in the park."

Apart from the aforementioned projects, Gako landscaping also engages daily in the management and maintenance of 240 kilometers of provincial roads in the province of South Holland and many small and large projects for local governments and contractors. "We are a service-oriented, all-round green specialist that likes to think along with clients in the preliminary stages to achieve the desired result," says De Gans in conclusion.
