As an independent workplace safety company, Raveco supervises countless companies that perform work on or around the railroad. Besides managing the danger of collision, the specialist also has the specialism of electrocution hazard in its package, which, according to directors Rik Lohuis and Jacco Ballast, is unique by Dutch standards. "As down-to-earth easterners, we are real tacklers of safety."
Raveco is based in Zwolle but has a national spread. "Our customers appreciate our down-to-earth and pragmatic approach," indicate Ballast and Lohuis. As directors, they are also operationally involved. "Short lines and clear agreements, that's what we stand for. We are actively involved to unburden customers as much as possible. This has resulted in a stable work package and a good motivated club of employees. Besides the large rail contractors, we also serve small(er) companies that carry out maintenance on or around the track. Think of renovating station buildings or repairing paving to hanging a clock on a platform. These smaller parties in particular are often (completely) unfamiliar with working along the track and we take them by the hand."
In addition to the large rail contractors, we also serve small(er) companies that perform maintenance on or around the track.
Spoorzone Groningen, underpass Dieren, the bus bridge in Zwolle and the HSL line, these are all appealing projects for which Raveco's services are being used. Lohuis: "Our contribution varies from thinking along in the tender phase about the safety plans and measures to drawing up the H&S plan and deploying safety staff during execution. Companies have also come to the right place for smaller projects, as well as for periodic felling and mowing work along the track. Safety is a very important issue for all these activities. Companies are therefore required to engage a recognized workplace safety company."
Raveco has in-house all the security equipment needed to work safely on or around the railroad tracks. "We have a large stock of safety equipment," says Lohuis. "For example, last year we took self-signaling short-circuit lance (ZKL II) in-house, which we also make available to third parties through our sister company Rail Safety Equipment (RSE). Third parties can also turn to RSE for safety fencing, machine grounding and other rail-related safety equipment."
