Nutritious meals provide the energy needed to stay productive during a shift, without the infamous dip. During intensive off-duty shifts or road closures, many road construction companies therefore use the services of Peter Waterlander, who provides fresh and nutritious meals on site with his company Van A naar Peter. Such was the case for the A16 Rotterdam project during the closure of the A16 and Hoofdweg roads in Rotterdam over the long Ascension weekend. But the caterer's services go much further....
During a road closure, such as the one mentioned above, there is a tremendous amount of pressure. An awful lot of work is being done at the same time. "Everything is planned and calculated down to the minute and then you just have to take good care of your people," Peter believes. And that's exactly what happens. "During the long Ascension weekend we served cold and hot meals continuously from Wednesday evening 8 p.m. until Sunday evening 00 a.m. People could also come to us for snacks or a drink. We have been working in road construction for a long time. Everyone knows who we are. We therefore regularly hear from customers: 'all works large or small, from A to Peter it will be'. And we are quite proud of that."
From A to Peter is a regular client of construction company De Groene Boog and has been "trotted out" several times now. Peter composes the menus himself. "We always provide a healthy and nutritious meal, taking halal into account, of course. During the Ascension weekend we served from our mobile kitchen, among other things, a tasty pasta with chicken and vegetables on the side, as well as baked potatoes with pork tenderloin and salad. For lunch we had an omelet with bacon and of course a wide range of freshly made sandwiches with coffee, tea, water or something soft. And for a tasty snack in between, people could go to our French fry cart. In short, no one came up short that weekend."
From A to Peter is a welcome guest on many an infrastructure project. "Almost every weekend we are on a project somewhere in the country with our mobile kitchen. And during the week during night-time closures, too, by the way," says Peter. "Besides for infrastructure contractors, we also work a lot for safety regions, the fire department and the Department of Public Works. All these parties see us as a reliable partner who takes care of all their problems. If required, we also arrange toilet trucks, hand washing units, tents, tables, waste containers and much, much more. And we do the same for company parties for which we take care of the complete event design from A to Z, even arranging artists. All our equipment is of high quality and we are HACCP and VCA certified as a company. And perhaps most importantly, we speak the language of contracting. So, for all works and parties large or small, from A to Peter it should be."
