Van de Beeten introduces circular foundation material Optiblend®

A responsible, financially advantageous and sustainable alternative to traditional foundation materials: that's Optiblend®, an innovative cementitious foundation material (CGF) for use in construction and infra. Optiblend® originated from the cooperation between contracting company Van de Beeten and ecocommodity producer Heros Sluiskil.

We are producing more and more waste in the Netherlands. Much of that waste is incinerated in Waste-to-Energy plants. The resulting energy is delivered back to society and the remaining ash with secondary raw materials is applied in various ways, for example for the production of high-quality end products. A smart solution, at a time when sustainability is very important in construction projects and clients are looking for less environmentally damaging raw materials and materials. Granova® from Heros as a secondary raw material and Optiblend® as an end product respond optimally to this trend and help solve a social problem. So what are the advantages offered by Optiblend® compared to traditional foundation materials?

Rock solid, economical and circular

First of all, Optiblend® is a very strong product. It can absorb compressive and tensile strength in less load-bearing substrates and has a high load-bearing capacity. As a result, the thickness of pavement layers and concrete floors can be significantly reduced, as can the costs. At the same time, you need fewer driving plates during the construction phase and the environmental cost indicator is very low, as is the CO₂-emissions. In addition, after the foundation is broken up, the material can be reused for new Optiblend® to be produced in the future. 

Reliable

Optiblend® is also a reliable product. The secondary raw materials that Van de Beeten obtains from Heros to produce Optiblend® have already been extensively tested and certified there. After they arrive at Van de Beeten by ship - significantly less CO₂-emissions than road transport! -, the raw materials are mixed according to a Heros-certified recipe in Van de Beeten's own mixing plant, fully computer-controlled and accurate in percentage. This ensures a continuous balance in the proportions of the ingredients and a constant quality of the final product. It is known exactly how much water, cement and secondary raw materials are in the mixture, something that is always traceable under the supervision of the certifying authority. In addition, due to its large production capacity, Van de Beeten can guarantee high availability of Optiblend®, so that in principle delivery is always possible.
