SMT, importer of Volvo excavators, can now equip both its wheel loaders and mobile and tracked excavators with GPS control systems from Topcon NL, supplier of technical solutions for (land) surveying and (road) construction. The two parties recently concluded a contract to this effect.
SMT was already selling GPS operating systems and software packages to their customers, which were often put together in consultation with Topcon NL. The new contract is an official sealing of the long-standing cooperation between SMT and Topcon NL. "The agreement means that from now on we are preferred supplier. If a customer wants, from now on SMT can also equip a machine with our GPS equipment," says Marcel ten Westenend, Senior National Account Manager at Topcon.
SMT has been trained by Topcon NL to independently install and calibrate the Topcon control systems on the machines in their own workshop. Ten Westenend says, "From closing to completing a deal, SMT is completely self supporting. We don't need to be involved. We do if there is a need for other support. We are and will still be the point of contact for the customers. They don't have to worry that if there is anything, they can only turn to SMT. The support department of Topcon NL are always there for them."
In addition to surveying solutions, Topcon NL develops hardware and software products to make earthmoving, asphalt spreading and milling machines, among others, automatically work more efficiently. The aim is to move as little soil as possible unnecessarily, thus saving fuel and time, reducing CO2 emissions and thus working more sustainably. For more information go to www.topconpositioning.nl.
