We speak with Bart Pit, project manager at Bork. "For us this is 'business as usual,' we have already gained the necessary experience at Groningen station. In Leeuwarden, the work consists of removing the roofs of the platforms, including the wood, roof sheeting, a share of polycarbonate and some window sections."
At the time of the interview, only the removal of the last part of the high platform caps remains. Pit: "We are working in phases, in order to cause as little disruption as possible to travelers. Working safely is of the utmost importance. We are working according to the Seveso Directive for safe working and our people have taken exams, having attended the ProRail Safe Working course. This means that we work with maximum safety for the passengers, our own people and those of the other companies on site."
Bork Demolition works extensively for both ProRail and Anton Rail & Infra. "We are well-matched," said Pit. "We are serious about our job and take care of demolition projects right up to the responsible disposal of the various materials that are released. For example, the bitumen and wood were disposed of to special processors who specialize in these materials."
