TenneT is awarding the civil works for the construction of the 380 kV high-voltage connection Borssele-Rilland to BAM Infra bv and to a consortium of Mobilis bv and Strukton Civiel Projecten bv. The contractors will each perform half of the work. BAM Infra is handling the section west of Willem-Annapolder (from Borssele to Willem-Annapolder) and the Mobilis/Strukton Civiel consortium east of this (from Willem-Annapolder to Rilland).
The contract includes the construction of work roads, work sites and mast foundations for the pylons and the civil engineering restoration of land after the high-voltage connection is put into operation. The construction of the 48 kilometer long 380 kV connection between the high-voltage substations Borssele and Rilland will start after the summer. Before then, TenneT will go through the planning in detail with the contractors and prepare the construction process.
The 380 kV connection is of great importance for electricity transmission from Borssele. The current connection is full and maintenance is not possible. In addition, Borssele is home to the connections of the planned offshore wind farms. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the transmission capacity from land-based Borssele to the Dutch high-voltage grid. Furthermore, the new high-voltage connection, including a new 380 kV high-voltage substation at Rilland, is an important link in the connection with Belgium.
TenneT is combining the new 380 kV connection with the existing connections in the Zak van Zuid-Beveland and between Willem-Annapolder and Rilland. This makes 42 kilometers of the existing connection redundant. TenneT will dismantle these after realization of the new connection. It involves 131 lattice towers.
The new high-voltage connection consists of 107 wintrack locations and two lattice towers. These two will be located along the canal through Zuid-Beveland, because a higher mast is needed there due to passage of ships. This is not possible with one wintrack mast. At most mast locations, two wintrack masts will be placed side by side. The high-voltage lines will hang from them.
TenneT previously installed these wintrack masts at:
‣ the new 380 kV connection in the Randstad (Beverwijk-Bleiswijk-Wateringen);
‣ the Dutch section of the Doetinchem-Wesel cross-border 380 kV connection;
‣ and currently in the construction of new 380 kV connection in Groningen (Eemshaven-Vierverlaten).
Before the start of the work, TenneT is organizing (digital) information evenings to inform everyone in the area about the work.
