TBI signs contract with PK Oil for HVO100 fuel

On Thursday, March 14, TBI signed a contract with PK Oil for the purchase of HVO100 fuel. Last fall, TBI already determined to switch to HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) as fuel on all construction sites. A new supplier has now been found in PK Oil that will supply this more sustainable fuel at all TBI construction sites. 

90% less CO2

HVO is a second-generation biodiesel and, in addition to vegetable oils, is also produced from waste, residual oils and fats, such as used cooking oil. With the switch to HVO100 (with the addition of Adblue) as fuel combined with the use of Stage V engines, TBI equipment emits almost 90% less CO2 than when using traditional diesel. It is a relatively simple way to contribute to the TBI-wide ambition of emitting at least 50% less CO2 by 2030. Last April, TBI committed to Net-Zero by 2050. The transition to HVO fits seamlessly with this. 

Sustainable building is something we do together

We see that in tenders and also in ongoing projects, the impact of the equipment on the environment is becoming increasingly important. Sustainable construction is working together and that means we have to make steps. The use of Stage V engines in combination with HVO100 is an interim solution on the way to better variants that also have a positive effect on nitrogen emissions. We are very deliberately choosing HVO100 for all TBI equipment. In combination with Stage V engines, this combination is currently the best alternative for the heavier equipment. In this way we are also trying to encourage other parties to think about this.

The fuel contract applies to all companies covered by TBI and starts from March 1, 2024 with a three-year term. Construction consortia in which TBI companies participate may also use this agreement. Large and permanent subcontractors can join with their own contract on the agreed terms.
