As a specialist in the assembly and disassembly of support structures for concrete construction, Stalen Steigers van Dorland travels all over the country. The Groningen-based company has an enviable portfolio and is a welcome ‘guest’ on many an infrastructure project. “Once companies have worked with us, they don't want anything else,” says director Henk van Dorland with appropriate pride. “There is no better calling card.”

Stalen Steigers van Dorland is very flexible and versatile. “We particularly focus on realizing support structures for concrete construction, but do not hesitate to scaffold a facade or church tower every now and then.” The company is therefore active throughout the country. “For example, on the ‘Spoorzone Groningen’ project we provide the assembly and disassembly of the concrete support and horizontal formwork for the new passenger passage at the Hoofdstation, and we can be found at the Aanpak Ring Zuid in Groningen. Periodic inspection of the scaffolding also falls within our scope. For the IJboulevard in Amsterdam, we recently realized the support structure for the 6,000 m² (!) roof of the bicycle shed. The support was built in the western harbor area and ferried across by pontoons. A wonderful job.”
“And so we contribute to many large but also small projects, working with regular suppliers such as Safe, Ischebeck, Peri, and Doka,” Van Dorland summarizes. “Sometimes one system lends itself better than another for a particular job. We have a big focus on safety, are ISO and VCA certified, and have occupied Step 3 on the Safety Ladder since February 2022. We work 90 percent with our own people, a permanent and loyal core, and only at peak times with temporary workers. In this way, we guarantee high quality and even get works awarded. In fact, many of our clients are familiar with our people. I am therefore a proud man for good reason.”
