Started in the late 1970s as a sole proprietorship, it has since grown into an international company with more than 250 employees worldwide. All these years, the vision remained unchanged: to make roads and work sites safer for everyone.
''Preventing accidents and saving lives, that is our main goal, our core business,'' says Huib Slijkhuis, managing director of Brigade Electronics Benelux. ''We are specialists in vehicle safety systems. This puts safe working and the prevention of damage and accidents within reach of every organization. Our customers work with vehicles and machines in, for example, the construction industry. But also in sectors such as transport, waste and recycling, agriculture and municipalities. In fact, anywhere where vehicles and machines are worked with and there is a chance of accidents involving employees or vulnerable road users."
"With us, the customer's problem is the main focus, where we recommend the most appropriate solution. For example, one customer might benefit from an advanced 360-degree system, which records images and also provides the driver with audible warnings. While another customer is already helped by a reversing alarm." In addition, Brigade Electronics places particular importance on good service. "You can sell such a good product, if the service is poor, you will eventually lose the customer." This distinctive service has also proven itself in recent years. Slijkhuis continues: "We have grown considerably; in less than ten years, sales have increased more than tenfold."
Slijkhuis emphasizes that the organization continues to evolve. ''Our products and systems will be increasingly integrated from the factory in the coming years. There is already cooperation with a number of large specialized dealers (worldwide) in the market." Looking at the Dutch construction industry, for example, we see that safety plays an increasingly important role. The current GCVB, the Governance Code for Safety in Construction, will be replaced in 2021 by the "Policy on collision hazard reduction. This describes a number of measures to reduce or even eliminate the risk of collisions. Contractors will thus be required to equip their vehicles with certain safety systems, and they have one year to do so. This brings plenty of opportunities for Brigade Electronics.
"Important, then, to introduce new products that are in line with future technological developments. Innovation and sustainability will be important for the future, whether it's pioneering new products or entering new markets." Slijkhuis concludes, "Our purposeful solutions, thinking with the customer as well as the high level of service underlie our success." Brigade Electronics has grown into a player of stature from which we can expect much in the future.
