This retroreflection must also function at night when the road surface is wet. For this you need a so-called Type II marking with the special characteristic "wet-reflection." Type II is created by applying a profiled marking or by using special glass beads as lenses. Of course, the contrast of the road markings with respect to the surface is also important, as are the dimensions.

Minimum requirements

Industry and European politicians are also stressing the importance of optimally functioning road markings, given the developments of autonomous driving.
