RootBarrier launches innovative product to combat Japanese knotweed in hard-to-reach locations.

The Floratron® deactivates the germination of the plant by microwaves heating the moisture in the root. This causes the sap flow to boil and the molecules evaporate and dry out. An advantage in using microwaves is that it can be very targeted, so this process is not harmful to the surrounding environment and no unnecessary energy is wasted. Because the Floratron® is mounted on a height-adjustable frame, even the most difficult-to-reach areas can now be permanently freed from Japanese knotweed.
