Yesterday, the Antea Group Sustainability Award was presented for the fourth time. This year the prize went to Rodenburg Biopolymers of Oosterhout. Where traditional plastics depend largely on fossil raw materials, this company is developing alternative applications based on residual streams from the potato industry. At Antea Group's offices, the winner received the award from Titia Bredée, director of Royal NLingenieurs. Mayor Gerdo van Grootheest was also present to warmly congratulate Rodenburg on behalf of the municipality.
Engineering and consulting firm Antea Group has been organizing the Annual Sustainability Award to recognize organizations that stand out in sustainability. The award rewards progressiveness, knowledge sharing and intrinsic motivation. Previous winners include VP Capital, Fijn Wonen and the municipalities of Leeuwarden and Súdwest-Fryslân. In addition to the recognition, a tree will be planted for the winner in the Antea Group forest on the Alvershool estate near Nuenen.

The jury of the Antea Group Sustainability Award is formed by the winners of the previous two years and the director of Royal NLingenieurs. On behalf of the jury, Titia Bredée states, “Rodenburg Biopolymers shows that innovation and sustainability go hand in hand. Their commitment to replace fossil raw materials with biobased alternatives is an example for the entire sector. The company shows how you can achieve real impact with guts and vision.”
Winner Thijs Rodenburg: “This award confirms our vision that plant-based biotech is essential for a sustainable future. For three generations we have been converting plant-based raw materials into valuable products. With our innovation hub Side Stream Innovation Valley - where innovation, production and education come together - we are actively building that future. Thanks to support from Antea Group, municipality and province, our ambition is growing. Above all, this is recognition for our dedicated employees.”

Mayor Gerdo van Grootheest is pleased that this year's award goes to a company in his municipality: “Oosterhout is an important economic engine in Brabant. Oosterhout also has a number of forerunners in the transitions in the field of sustainability. Rodenburg Biopylomers is a great example of this. I am extremely proud of this fine company and warmly congratulate them on the Antea Group Sustainability Award 2025!”
