Pumping station Leemans now stands alone in keeping the Wieringermeer Polder dry. The second pumping station, Lely Pumping Station, comes into operation only in emergencies.
Leemans pumping station is now undergoing a major renovation. In order for the renovation to take place, the function of the polder pumping station must be safeguarded temporarily. Commissioned by Waterboard Hoogheemraadschap Noorderkwartier (HHNK) we, Vanderkamp Pompen, in collaboration with Van den Heuvel (family business in infrastructure technology) placed a temporary pumping installation of over 15,000 m3 per hour to take over the function of polder pumping station Leemans.
With Van den Heuvel and client HHNK, we entered into a nice cooperation and drew up a plan in a short period of time. Van den Heuvel performed the civil part, the foundation for the temporary pump installation and the piping. We installed the piping and the necessary fittings. And together we placed the pumps of HHNK.
We were able to set up the completely closed system without check valves in such a way as to prevent siphoning back from the Wadden Sea into the polder. In this way we were able to offer a total solution, from problem analysis to realization.
We, Vanderkamp Pumps, are proud to have been able to determine and construct the pipeline route for the temporary pump installation for Waterschap HHNK and in cooperation with Van den Heuvel.
