Innovation in recycling

In a world where sustainability and environmental awareness are prominent, Van de Beeten is playing a true pioneering role. The multidisciplinary contracting company is fully engaged in transforming the concrete and road construction industry. This is happening, among other things, with a series of pioneering products, such as OptiBlend^®, OptiZand^®, OptiGranulate^®, OptiBlok^® and OptiStore^®. Solutions with which the Veghel-based company not only sets new standards in terms of efficiency, but encourages the reuse of valuable materials. 

Within the Van de Beeten R&D department, they don't stand still. Every day here are different specialists working on the development of new products and initiatives. Such as fillers for concrete and asphalt, application areas for bottom ashes, heat storage of green energy, 3D printing of soil, cementitious (secondary) foundations, granules for sports fields and much more. Thoughtful solutions with which the company sets the tone towards a more sustainable future in the construction and road building sector. Searching for innovative inventions to successfully meet the challenges of tomorrow: at Van de Beeten it's second nature.

High quality sand substitute

Working with external parties to build a better, greener world is done in part with a range of sustainable, pioneering products. One of these is OptiZand^®, the new certified quality sand developed specifically for the concrete industry. "This exclusively formulated recycling product is created by using and upgrading the waste stream of sand from thermal cleaning," says Daphne Sijtsma, R&D and KAM Department Coordinator. It meets the highest quality standards according to NEN-EN 12620 (aggregates for concrete) and symbolizes Van de Beeten's course set on sustainability. 

Extremely strong foundation material

The latter also applies to OptiBlend^®, the innovative, smart and versatile foundation material that consists of high-quality secondary residues in addition to water and cement. The invention fits perfectly with the ambitions of construction and civil engineering companies that increasingly want to realize their projects with fewer primary raw materials and materials. "Moreover, OptiBlend is^® extremely strong and offers a very high load-bearing capacity," believes Ted Kees, Manager of Raw Materials and Recycling. "This allows you to perform pavement layers and concrete floors a lot thinner. And that provides both financial and environmental benefits."

Sustainable building blocks

With OptiBlok^® finally, Van de Beeten has an environmentally friendly yet economically priced building block in its delivery program. "Composed of circular and secondary building materials, OptiBlok^® is a full brother to our MegaBlocks^®, the Mercedes in the stacking block market," said Operations Manager Tjepke Klis. "Compared to traditional concrete blocks, this new building block variant is not only a lot more environmentally friendly, it is also much more interesting in terms of cost. That makes choosing this product sustainable and easy."
