No bridge too far for these fast-curing GWW systems

The Korthals Group subsidiary delivers worldwide and not infrequently for leading objects, including the London Tower Bridge and the Tsing Ma Bridge in Hong Kong. "For us, no bridge is too far," laughs Bram Woerdeman, product specialist at HIM Products.

Fast curing, fast commissioning

In addition to its existing BRL-certified wear layer system, HIM Products introduced an additional fast-curing variant this spring: Himgrip Fast. This wearing course system can be walked on after only four hours, making it highly applicable for emergency and urgent repairs. "With its unprecedented fast curing, the product fills a major gap in the market. Prolonged traffic jams and road detour are definitely a thing of the past with Himgrip Fast," Woerdeman says during a tour of the versatile delivery program.

Substantial cost savings through unique layer system

"Himgrip Fast is unique in that only one layer of slurry needs to be applied to the primer, which can then be spread directly. On wooden substrates, the primer can even be omitted entirely. Due to the unique layer structure, the drying time is significantly shorter. Contractors and applicators save a complete labor cycle. This means a serious cost reduction and ensures that the deck is operational again much faster. The wearing course is walkable after only four hours, passable after five hours and fully cured after three days. That's more than double the drying time of regular wearing course systems."

Creating safe road and bridge decks is a top priority at HIM.

Safety has priority

HIM's wearing course systems are part of a rich tradition of safety solutions for the infrastructure sector. "Creating safe bridge and road surfaces, walkways and bicycle paths, ramps, parking decks and RoRo-linkspans is our top priority, both in terms of processing technology and use," Woerdeman continues. "We take a structural look at the whole process. For example, it is very important for adhesion to take into account the state of the current substrate. Only when you hold such things up to the light can you really speak of responsible use."

Continuing where others stop

Woerdeman points out the importance of getting rid of existing blemishes during renovation work. "We do everything for a tight end result. Fortunately, air bubbles and other damage can be skillfully filled into an even tight bonding layer using our all-purpose HIM Coving Mastic." That this lightweight, solvent-free, thixotropic paste based on epoxy resin is also used to bond concrete profiles such as piglet ridges, well reflects the product's robustness and versatility.

When there are small, hollow spaces that are difficult to reach during processing, HIM also has a casting mortar available for the same purpose. Thinking in terms of possibilities is typical of the way HIM Products works, Woerdeman concludes: "We continue where others stop. Whatever the needs of our customers, we like to tell a strong story."
