Innovative circular embankment as a first at Infra Relatiedagen

At the Infra Relatiedagen, HIP Groen, also known as Hogendoorn Innovative Products, will present its innovative circular shoring. The innovation lies in the combination of European PEFC-certified softwood and recycled HDPE plastic. What makes this extra interesting is that from early 2024 it can actually demonstrate the sustainability through Life Cycle Analysis (LCA). 

HIP Green, stands for quality, craftsmanship and innovation. The roots of this company lie in its sister contracting company specializing in green and hydraulic engineering projects. Ten years ago, HIP Groen had foresight and developed an environmentally friendly, circular shoreline, as opposed to traditional hardwood systems.  

Best of two materials 

What makes the shoring from HIP Green so unique? "The innovation lies in the combination of European PEFC-certified softwood and recycled HDPE plastic," explains Wouter Smit, technical advisor. "This retains the structural strength we are used to from hardwood, but with significantly improved durability. The lifespan of our shoring is at least 50 years. A big advantage is that the material is fully reusable again at any time thanks to the 100% pure HDPE stream, even after 50 years." HIP Green cleverly exploited the properties of both materials. The underwater portion of the shoring is made of softwood, sourced from sustainably managed forests in the Netherlands, Germany or Belgium. Above the waterline, where wood comes into contact with oxygen and decay processes take place, recycled HDPE plastic comes into play. "By combining the best of two materials in the right place, we prevent wood rot and offer a long-term, sustainable, price-competitive solution." 

Free startup service 

In addition to its products, HIP Groen is highlighting its free start-up service at Infra Relatiedagen. This was born out of a desire to familiarize new contractors with the system. Moreover, the men from HIP Groen like to have their feet in the clay. "Selling a shoring project requires more than just a good story. Through this service, we transfer the intricacies of processing, allowing every contractor to benefit from the quick ease of installation," said Wouter. 

Schiphol chooses sustainable shoring 

A great current example is the sustainability of the banks at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. "The start-up service paid off here. After a flying start, BAM Infra Nederland, with the expertise of firm Gebroeders Bastiaan as subcontractor, will continue this ambitious project at a rapid pace in the coming years."

Prime 

At the upcoming Infra Relatiedagen in 2024, the South Holland no-nonsense company will present a first. And this is the addition of the color brown alongside the familiar black, prompted by increasing customer demand for aesthetic diversity. In addition, the material is available directly from stock, allowing its application in projects to take place quickly and efficiently. 

Demonstrable sustainability 

In 2024, HIP Green will go one step further by offering insight into the full life cycle of their sustainable shoring through the LCA (life cycle analysis) cycle. This allows them to demonstrate that their product is not only effective in the short term, but also has a positive long-term impact on the environment.
