InfraCAD 8: major expansion of NLCS functionality

Arkance Systems, with a complete portfolio of software, hardware, courses and services, guides companies in the digital transition within the fields of construction, infra and manufacturing. The Autodesk Platinum Partner is at the forefront of the market and recently launched InfraCAD 8.0. This new InfraCAD version contains a major extension of the NLCS functionality and is thus prepared for future developments of the NLCS.

With three offices (Almelo, Oss and Veenendaal) and nearly 100 employees, Arkance Systems is the largest Autodesk specialist in the Netherlands for the Building, Infrastructure and Manufacturing industries. Arkance Systems is the market leader in the Netherlands with InfraCAD. The software facilitates in NLCS (Dutch CAD Standard), the CAD standard that contributes to the ease of sharing information in a structured way within processes.

NLCS and InfraCAD 8.0

Arkance Systems supports organizations in the digital transformation to CAD, BIM and Industry 4.0. With, among other things, the obligation from Forum Standaardisatie, Arkance Systems sees that the use of the NLCS is increasing. In particular, the client-contractor relationship is becoming increasingly important. "As of 2013, NLCS can be applied within InfraCAD. In recent years, Arkance Systems has continued to expand it in the InfraCAD solution," says InfraCAD consultant and project leader Frank van der Heijden. "InfraCAD 8.0 was launched at the end of 2022 and we find that clients are very satisfied with it."

Extensions for specific queries

One of the extensions is that Arkance Systems has made the NLCS applicable within InfraCAD for the grid management application. InfraCAD has also been expanded with functions that add extra data that do not have to be visible immediately on the design, but are important later for, for example, management applications. Van der Heijden: "This may involve different types of information, such as date of construction, inspection date or other data that may be important. In other words, any data that is valuable within the process from design to management."

Moreover, the client often wants the contracting party to provide this data in the correct way so that it can be re-used in the client's system without problems. Arkance Systems guides the various parties involved, such as governments, to clarify which information is important to their organization and how to extract it. In addition, engineering firms and contractors can also be guided in how to apply this information within their projects.

Generic solution for various disciplines

Van der Heijden: "Now it is true that every client requires additional data, but obviously in its specific field. To this end, InfraCAD has been extended with a generic solution to reflect specific client requirements in the request for proposal. The NLCS object data can also be easily linked to design objects within the InfraCAD NLCS library. By continuing to listen carefully to what the client needs, Arkance Systems aims to serve the market optimally."
