The need for zero emissions in the infrastructure sector is more urgent than ever. The sector faces the challenge of making a vital contribution to climate neutrality targets. This is driven by government policies aimed at reducing CO2 and other harmful emissions. During Infra Relatiedagen 2025, emission-free work will be a key topic, and we are expanding the theme further on the exhibition floor to inspire and inform companies about the latest developments.
The government has committed to ambitious climate targets for 2030, as set out in the Climate Agreement. This means that companies in the infrastructure sector must not only comply with stricter regulations, but also actively invest in sustainable solutions and processes to meet these targets. In addition, requirements for sustainable practices are increasingly being imposed through tendering procedures, encouraging companies to implement emission-free techniques and processes.
One of the key pillars of zero-emission work in the infrastructure sector is embracing new technologies. Electrification of construction machinery, the use of green hydrogen and alternative fuels such as biofuels are essential to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. In addition to developing new machinery, optimizing existing processes plays a major role. Consider the reuse of materials such as concrete and asphalt, reducing both waste and emissions.
These developments are an important step in the right direction, but they can only be successful if companies are willing to commit to them. That is why extra attention will be paid to this theme during the upcoming edition of Infra Relatiedagen. Ali Dikici, Account Manager for Infra Relatiedagen, explains what there will be to find in the field of emission-free working: "For the first time, we are reserving a section of the floor plan for this specific theme, in order to inform visitors about the latest state of affairs and to remove any obstacles. In addition, you will find exhibitors all over the show floor who are already working on the electrification of their equipment fleet/construction site or supply products for an emission-free future."
In order to add extra strength to the theme, it was decided to create a special cinema in hall 7 of Infra Relatiedagen. This cinema focuses on inspiring and informing companies about the possibilities of emission-free construction. "In the cinema we really want to tell a story," Ali said. "We want to create a film that shows that zero-emission construction is not only feasible, but also better in the long run for performing parties. We also want to make companies aware of important things that can help them, but that they may not yet be aware of. For example, the government has made available the Clean and Emission-free Construction Equipment Grant Scheme (SSEB). These types of schemes can help make the necessary transition to zero-emission work. We also offer exhibitors the opportunity to present their most successful projects, innovative working methods or groundbreaking solutions in this cinema. Working together and learning from each other is essential, and we want to encourage that in this way."
Such initiatives are crucial, as there are still companies that are reluctant when it comes to making the switch to zero-emission operations. "There are plenty of parties who are still trying to put off the topic of emission-free," Ali notes. "The idea is to inspire them, because they cannot wait very long. 2030 is getting closer and closer and clients are also increasingly demanding electric equipment. We want to help them get ready for this step."
Infra Relatiedagen 2025 will provide a platform where new technologies and methods for emission-free work will be presented. This will give visitors the opportunity to learn more about the development and prepare for the future. Bringing companies together and showing successful practical examples will not only demonstrate that the transition to zero-emission is necessary, but also feasible. Ali emphasizes, "With this mix, we want to make it clear to everyone that zero-emission is not impossible!"
