Growth leads to necessary new construction

2022 is the year Duport expands with a new production hall. Where at the beginning of the year all preparations are done and the permit is in place, by the end of the year the new hall will be fully operational. The new industrial hall is the first building that has some distance from the other Duport premises. However, the distance is manageable, as its location is slightly further away, in the same industrial park called De Rollepaal.

Over 3,350 square meters is quite an expansion for Duport with this new hall. "We desperately need that extra space then," says Bernie Dunnewind, general manager of Duport BV. "We are experiencing nice growth with our company. Our own Duport line of manure processing machines and our importership of Pöttinger tillage and haymaking machines are doing well. On top of that, with the acquisition of both production and sales of Güstrower machines, we simply need more space now. This year both engineering, production and parts supply from Güstrower were brought to the Netherlands. This additional work alone has caused us to outgrow our space. Production in particular requires more capacity."

Duport Lubricare

In the 1990s, a second branch was created at our company: Duport Lubricare. This includes biodegradable lubricants and filtration systems under the Motorex and Cardev brands. "We see in general that the demand for biodegradable oils is increasing," notes Dunnewind. "We supply among others municipalities, landscapers the civil engineering sector and offshore companies with biodegradable / PFAS-free lubricants. With more than 30 years of specific knowledge and experience in this industry, the service we can provide is decisive for the customer. This includes delivery within 24 hours. This is possible because we stock all types of lubricants as much as possible in our well-stocked warehouse. We can only maintain this by growing with it."

The integration of most of the Güstrower company's operations with Duport in the Netherlands means more space is needed.

Year-round production

Looking back over the past three years and looking ahead to the coming years, I see the growth trend continuing, says Dunnewind. "The growth could have been even more, if world materials production wasn't so upside down. Purchasing the right materials and parts has been a huge challenge for some time. Of course, we depend in production speed on their availability. For example, we produce our own Duport Liquiliser (spoke wheel injector) year-round. That's a constant production flow. Any time we are idle due to material shortages means a delay in delivery."

Growing production and storage space

Duport has been the undisputed importer of both Pöttinger tillage machines and the Pöttinger haymaking line for many years. "Every year we pre-purchase from Pöttinger in Austria," Dunnewind continued. "Our growing sales lead to ever larger pre-purchases. In this, too, the additional storage capacity provided by the new warehouse benefits us. Fast delivery from our own stock makes sales to our customers more service-oriented. So we will certainly have no trouble filling the new hall."
