Geometius has been supplying measurement systems and software for nearly 30 years for measurements on land, underground, from the air or in the water. And as of this year, also systems for measurements on the railroad. Through the new partnership with Trimble Railway, Geometius is now officially the dealer for Trimble Railway in the Netherlands.
When asked why Geometius entered into the dealership, Jasper Schuur explains: "For years we have seen growth in the work that our customers and all market participants are performing on and around the railroad and this is expected to continue to grow explosively over the next 10 years. We are convinced that the Trimble GEDO solution is the best available solution for all measurement work on the railroad and that is why we decided to invest in this ourselves as a Trimble dealer by becoming an official Trimble Railway dealer. Part of that step is that we have purchased our own demo and rental trolley with GX50 scanner. This allows us to provide optimal support to anyone who measures or wants to measure on or around the railroad."
Actually, it was a logical next step for Geometius. Jasper continued: "We have a number of customers who already work with the Trimble GEDO solution and whom we already supported in this. For them, this step means extra flexibility when an additional trolley or scanner is needed or their own equipment is unavailable due to maintenance and calibration. All parties who do not (yet) measure on the track or who already use a trolley but do not have a scanner, for example, can now contact us for a demonstration but also for rental. In this way, customers can get to know the Trimble GEDO solution as easily as possible before they have to invest in one or more instruments and the accompanying software themselves."
Trimble GEDO systems combine various technologies to perform track surveying tasks. For example, the Trimble GEDO CE 2.0 trolley can be equipped with GNSS, optical instruments, as well as IMU to determine absolute positions. Andreas Sinning, director of Trimble Railway explains: "We develop everything ourselves in Germany, from software to the mechanical and electrical design and production of it all. As a result, we have a complete portfolio of different solutions."
Geometius now has the Trimble GEDO solution in house and available for rental and demonstrations. A number of Geometius employees have been additionally trained by Trimble Railway to properly assist customers. One of them, Wim Egberts, explains: "We were trained on how to use the GEDO solution and its software. With the Trimble GEDO you can automatically and quickly record the track with all the necessary information and the scan data of the immediate surroundings. Truly a great product!"
The Trimble Railway dealership is thus a logical extension of the portfolio for Geometius and expects to be able to support many great customer projects with it in the future.
