Expansion of Aboma Check: soon to include digital SCC module

Although SCC certification is not required by law, it is almost always demanded by clients. Especially the somewhat smaller organizations with up to, say, 25 employees often have trouble setting up and maintaining the SCC system. Aboma will soon offer a helping hand with an expansion of the digital platform "Aboma Check!", which also includes space for MOS reports (reporting unsafe situations) and workplace inspections.

Although SCC certification is not required by law, it is almost always required by clients.

Keeping an SCC scheme up and running takes time and requires attention. "In the somewhat smaller organizations, which are not (yet) big enough to employ a KAM-coordinator, for example, this often lies on the director's plate, who also does the acquisition, relationship management and in between has to take care of SCC," Pieter Visser, general manager Advice at Aboma, outlines a common practical example. "The intention is there, but people do not sufficiently realize that SCC has the necessary hooks and eyes that require continuous attention. A month or two before the certifying body comes, they spring into action and all kinds of things have to be arranged in a hurry."

Part of the overall process

With the VCA module of Aboma Check! Aboma offers companies a digital tool to set up and/or keep the VCA system up and running relatively easily. "The system makes a manual unnecessary and is based on a task list that alerts companies that it is time to take action," explains Harry Spies, operations manager at Aboma. "The tasks are all time-bound, so a nice spread of them is guaranteed. That way SCC becomes much more part of an organization's overall process rather than a rush job against the deadline." The platform was initially developed for SCC* (1 star). "The intention is to build on this to VCA** (2 stars), so that larger organizations can also use it," Visser says. "Such a system also greatly helps the KAM coordinator to get a better grip on the processes."

The SCC module in Aboma Check! is available in a subscription formula for a fixed amount per period, including workplace inspection module and MOS module. "Of course, it takes some time in the beginning to transfer the existing system to the digital environment or set up new," Visser acknowledges, "but then it's a matter of periodically performing the tasks to stay up-to-date." For more depth, a more extensive workplace inspection module is also available to define follow-up actions or perform trend analysis. "Formally, however, this is not necessary for VCA* (1 star), but with a view to the future and expansion to VCA** (2 stars) it is important."
