"We have an extensive fleet of machines with many 'specials' and highly qualified operators, a combination that comes in handy at the airport," says Robbert-Jan van Vliet, of the eponymous family business.
Loonbedrijf J.M. van Vliet B.V. is a specialized service provider in the fields of earthmoving, agricultural engineering, agricultural services and manure distribution. Van Vliet: "We are very broadly oriented and can assist Heijmans on this project with a wide variety of machines. We have two of our large crawler cranes stationed almost permanently and with some regularity we are asked to deploy other equipment, such as tractors, dumpers or dredgers. If necessary, we adapt our equipment to find a suitable solution. However, it is our 65 employees who really make the difference. We are proud of that and we continue to cherish it."
Leander Kalpakidis, foreman at Heijmans on the VDR project, is also pleased with the cooperation with Loonbedrijf J.M. Van Vliet. "It is a fine party with good equipment and knowledgeable staff. The 25-ton Long Reach crawler crane with 18-meter boom and knowledgeable operator has been supporting us for over a year now on the project for finishing verges and embankments. Because of the long boom, the machine does not have to drive as much. A big advantage, because the ground at Schiphol is not too good, especially in winter. There is also another crawler crane from Loonbedrijf J.M. Van Vliet, also with a permanent driver and equipped with a rotating clamp, which assists in the construction of the gutter system. And every now and then we call on other Van Vliet equipment to perform dredging work, for example. All in all, a very fine and reliable party."
