Engcon North America takes next step for growth trajectory

Following its highly successful participation in Conexpo, the largest trade show of the year in Las Vegas, demand for Engcon products has increased significantly. As a result of the increasing growth, Engcon North America (Engcon NA) moved to a new, larger facility, with increased storage space.

Engcon NA is showing continued growth despite the COVID-19 pandemic causing one of the most difficult periods in modern history. Interest in Engcon's products is still strong and all indications are that increasing sales will continue through 2020.

"Engcon North-America is currently in an expansive phase. We have grown quite a bit in 2019, in part due to our successful participation in Conexpo, one of the world's most important machinery shows. There, visitors could try excavators equipped with Engcon rotary tilt attachments and more of our thoughtful products. Because of the increased interest, we are shifting into high gear with a new manager for the Engcon NA department and new facilities," says Anders Smith, regional director at Engcon.

New manager for Engcon North-America

The new Managing Director at Engcon NA is Morten Solgaard. He comes from Scania - a Swedish OEM company for heavy trucks and buses - where he has held various positions in sales and service for the past 22 years. He knows the industry and is aware of the high demands on suppliers. With his experience and leadership, Solgaard will be instrumental in the continued growth in the U.S. markets.

"To cope with continued growth, we moved both the office and central warehouses to a new facility in Hamden, Connecticut. The new facility of about 1,200 m² (13,000 ft²) is three times larger than the previous one. But most importantly, the new facility is tailored to our operations," says Anders Smith.

Increasing demand

Despite the pandemic, Engcon North America's order intake through June this year shows a 50% increase over 2019. Sales to both small and large companies have increased. Whereas last year products for small machines were mainly sold, this year it is all excavators from 1.5 to 33 tons.

"There is enormous potential in North America to make excavation operations more efficient. All parties involved benefit from more effective, environmentally friendly and safer excavators. Of course, with a rotary attachment and thoughtful accessories from Engcon. We stand by the slogan "Change the world of digging" and hope that as many people as possible connect with this," Anders Smith said.
