DEVELON launches the new DX17Z-7 and DX19-7 mini excavators

DEVELON (formerly Doosan Construction Equipment) has launched the new DX17Z-7 zero tail swing (short swing radius) and DX19-7 conventional Stage V mini-excavators. Both new models offer significantly better performance, versatility, operator comfort and easier maintenance than the previous generation of machines.

Both models are powered by a Kubota D902 diesel engine Stage V that delivers a 20% higher gross power output of 12.1kW (16.2HP) at 2400 rpm. The engine also has a 25% larger displacement and a 29% higher engine torque of up to 54.6Nm at 1900 rpm, which translates into high overall reliability and reduced stress on the engine and other components. In addition to increased efficiency, the Kubota D902 engine is known for its high reliability, ease of maintenance and long service life.

Versatile and durable

With the new design for the new generation of Develon mini-excavators, the new model of the DX17Z-7 and DX19-7 provides increased durability and robustness. The compact dimensions of both machines make them ideal for work in tight spaces on construction, landscaping and utility projects.

Both the DX17Z-7 and DX19-7 have a standard 175cm boom and 103cm arm, while an optional longer 123cm arm is available for both models. The DX17Z-7 has a standard cast counterweight of 180kg with option for an additional 85kg counterweight with the longer arm. The rear turning radius of the DX17Z-7 has been reduced by 6.5% to just 64.5cm compared to the previous model. The swing radius at the rear increases to 72cm (+7.5cm) when the additional 85kg counterweight is used. In both the standard and longer arm versions of the DX19-7, a standard counterweight is weighted at 65kg.

The cylinders on the boom of both the DX17Z-7 and DX19-7 are protected by cylinder guards to prevent collisions or any kind of potential damage. Optimal mounting of the hydraulic hoses, which run through the boom assembly, also protects them. This reduces the risk of damage and failure of the hoses and therefore less repair, downtime and the productivity and efficiency of the mini excavator is increased.

DX17Z 7 New Model

Adjustable hydraulics

The proportional controllable oil flow in 1 or 2 directions comes standard with easy access to the setting. The ilieflow can be easily controlled via a thumb wheel on the right joystick, making it easier to control. Because quick-change functionality is available on both models, the operator can easily change excavator buckets, via pressing a safety button on the left console. An alert then appears on the 5" digital display, then a button on the right joystick can be simply pressed (2-hand control) to change digging buckets, etc.

The DX17Z-7 and DX19-7 are both equipped with a hydraulic extendable undercarriage. The 23cm rubber tracks can then be adjusted in width from 99.4cm to 129cm width. Both machines have a sliding blade that can also be widened from 99.4 to 129cm. This allows operators to adjust the width and dimensions of the mini-excavators to drive through narrow passages, for example. The adjustable width allows operators to distribute weight more evenly, reducing ground pressure and increasing stability during digging or lifting. The retractable tracks are also convenient for transportation.

The DX17Z-7 is available as a machine with canopy, while the DX19-7 can be supplied with either canopy or cab. Both machines have identical versions for joystick and switch controls:

Left console controls

  • Left joystick for control of swivel and arm movements;
  • Quick release switch;
  • Engine speed control lever;
  • Work light switch.

Right console controls

  • Right joystick with controls for horn, break switch, thumbwheel for one- and two-way hydraulics and quick coupler switch;
  • Lever for sliding blade;
  • Switch for extending/retracting undercarriage;
  • Drive-alarm switch;
  • Switch for flashing light;
  • 12V outlet.

For better operator control, the travel speed switch is integrated with the travel control levers, allowing for quick speed adjustment and improved controllability. The high travel speed indicator light illuminates on the 5" digital display so the operator knows it is engaged.

The new 5" digital display replaces the simple instrument panel of previous models and displays important information for the operator on the screen. Information includes safety features such as buzzer sound warnings. Maintenance intervals can also be tracked on the display, contributing to proactive maintenance and minimizing downtime and repair costs.

The cab version of the DX19-7 features a radio, for entertainment and a comfortable environment for the operator. The cab of the DX19-7 comes standard with heating (with air circulation through three vents), so the operator can work in excellent conditions even in cold weather and extend the working season. Working with the door closed prevents noise and dust from entering the cab. A quick defrost system ensures continued good visibility and a safer working environment. This also prevents temperature-related damage such as moisture build-up. The heater switch is located on the right side of the console and can be operated in two steps: low and high fan speed.

Both models come standard with a mechanical suspension seat, which can be adjusted multiple times for the operator.

LED lights and a flashing light are also standard on both models for added safety. The DX17Z-7 has a standard LED work light on the boom, while the DX19-7 has a work light on the boom (in both hood/cab versions) and at the top of the rear of the cab.
