Develon, formerly known as Doosan Construction Equipment, has launched the new DX140RDM-7, the latest addition to the company's successful range of demolition excavators. Like the three larger models from 31 to 61 tons, the new 22.5-ton DX140RDM-7 demolition excavator offers multiple configurations to choose from that provide customers with a range of options depending on the project to be performed, including a multi-purpose version that can be used for both demolition and other on-site applications.
In fact, the DX140RDM-7 offers even more choices, starting with a "mono" variant that is unique to this model and includes only a demolition arm without any possibility of interchangeability. Alternatively, as with the larger machines, the DX140RDM-7 is also available in a dual format utilizing a modular boom design and hydraulic locking mechanism that allows the user to switch between different arms for demolition and excavation work with the same machine.
In the fixed 'mono' version of the new DX140RDM-7, the impressive working range allows the machine to work with demolition equipment up to a maximum height of 16 meters. The recommended maximum tool weight in this mode is 1450 kg. Like the other models in the range of demolition excavators, the DX140RDM-7 offers high visibility and a tilting cab, particularly suitable for demolition work at great heights and with a 30-degree tilt angle.
In the multifunction version of the DX140RDM-7, the pen height is 14 meters and the maximum weight for equipment pieces is 1450 kg. (with a 2-meter extension as an option). All components such as the undercarriage, tilting cab and tracks remain the same as in the fixed version, only the modular design of the boom and the hydraulic locking mechanism are different, allowing the user to switch between demolition and excavation arms.
The innovative design makes it easy to change between a demolition boom and an excavation boom to perform different types of work on the same project. There is a special standard to facilitate boom swapping, it is based on fast hydraulic and mechanical couplings. A cylinder system is used to push the locking pins into place to complete the procedure.
The multi-boom design also allows the excavator boom to be mounted two different ways, which together with the demolition boom offers further flexibility with a total of three different configurations for the multi-purpose base machine.
The DX140RDM-7 has a hydraulically adjustable undercarriage that extends to a maximum width of 3.7 meters to provide optimum stability when working on demolition sites. The width of the undercarriage can be hydraulically retracted to 2.5 meters in the narrow width position, which is ideal for transporting the machine. The mechanism is based on a permanently forged, internal cylinder design, which minimizes resistance during movement and helps prevent damage to components.
As with all Develon demolition excavators, the standard safety equipment on the DX140RDM-7 includes FOGS cab protection, safety valves for the boom, intermediate boom and arm cylinders as well as a stability warning system.
